Thinking about upgrading my audio set up and was wondering if you guys could suggest ideas. Currently just using a Creative T40 2.0 speakers and G903 for gaming. Budget wise is about $400 - $500. Right now I'm thinking about getting the Creative X7 with bookshelf speakers. Any ideas would be good as I have almost zero knowledge about audio.

Main usage? Gaming or movies or music?

5.1 speakers would be ideal but expensive.

Speaking from experience, a pair of good but expensive 2.0 speakers produce better audio positioning and clarity than cheap 5.1 speakers.

Sound is upto individual's liking. Better for ts to test out personally to see if the sound suit him.

5.1 is best for surround games like COD etc but its most tricky to setup in a PC environment with a lot of cablings involved.

I think 5.1 is out due to lack of space. I'm looking for a good 2.0 or 2.1 together with the Creative X7.
