i am going lofoten and tromso

Wonderful! These are beautiful places. I prefer the Lofoten Islands. Very picturesque.

No need. You can drive too. However if you hike, you see more. Do watch the YT videos where they show you hiking trails and drone videos too

Talking about drones, you cannot fly one in Tromso island as it is within 5 km of the airport. You also need to register your drone even if below 250g.

I planning a trip to Finland to catch the Aurora in Nov/Dec in 2025. Which part of Finland is good for Aurora? Saariselkä or Levi? I checked and both seem to be have the same kind of activities like snowmobile, sled dog and ice fishing for day activities.

If you hike, you can see more. Watch 4K youtube videos to get an idea.

I was with my wife who does not like hiking but we still found our aurora at sea level. We saw plenty of nice scenery around Lofoten Islands.

more like green clouds to me. Some people have no feelings of what the auroras are and cannot appreciate it.

And some wonder why people would pay thousands to visit the far north/south to catch glimpses of the aurora.

cold night can be found around asia.

besides hard to see aurora with naked eyes unless got some strong magnetic storms going on.

Beautiful backdrop (lakes, mountains, horizon), cold dark night + clear skies + uncertainty + sudden appearance of Aurora + Excitement = priceless experience.

Guys, I am planning a 8 days train trip on one of these ways:

1) Fly into Tromso, a few days there to catch Aurora, then proceed down to Oslo via train with multiple stops

2) Start the train journey from Oslo and move northward, if along the way catch the Aurora, I may not go Tromso and spend more time elsewhere.

What do you guys think?

I did a self driving trip from Oslo many yrs back. Drove northwards.

At Bodo crossed over via car ferry to Lofoten Islands ( and saw the northern lights ) skipped Tromso.

Have a look/research on the Havila cruise. They have an Aurora guarantee cruise.

I did a self driving trip from Oslo many yrs back. Drove northwards.

At Bodo crossed over via car ferry to Lofoten Islands ( and saw the northern lights ) skipped Tromso.

Ah I wish I can drive! But if my northward trip can see aurora early , I may drop from reaching Tromso, now that I know the last station is a Narvik and it will take 4.5hr to reach Tromso by bus
