pls do not think of accountant can get a job here easily...i would think that if u r auditor u might get a job easily with big 6.

My company just axed 19 accountants last month, all made redundant, jobs are outsourced to philippines...

Unless u r very experienced financial controller or financial accountant or tax accountant with international exposure esp with china markets with 5 years experience then i would think u will secure a job if u try hard enough. There are PRC who are verse in Tax accounting but, their command of english is generally weaker compared to SG/MY ppl.

I cannot speak mandarin but I can speak malay fluently, what is my chance to get australian PR? I am a financial controller for 2 SBUs, not a plant controller.

english is all that matters for PR application. so the question is can u speak english fluently? (my guess is yes).

I am not so concern abt if a person can get PR, is whether the person can secure a related job more impt.

THINK, why Aussie employers should hire a foreigner?

but without PR, you cannot find even secure a job cos they only hire PR and residents?

yes, I had a frd, who is also a dormant HWZ member, actually sent many email asking recruitment agency why only australian resident is accepted for the job. I will try dig that mail out and list it in here. its been some years.

But there are some ppl whose skills are so exclusite that, they "migrated" to australia with just work visa. then after 2 years, then they apply PR. My manager is one of them i know.

Woah. send so much hate mails ah?

subclass 485? Only $270 nia, + some small cost to get ur documents endorsed by a JP ( if u got some frens who are registered pharmacist, they can do it also)

no need go thru agency.
Anyway, that isn't a permanent residence per se. It's still a type of temporary residence visa, you got to leave once the years it stipulate is up or apply for a real permanent residence visa ( where it's gonna cost a lot more...but still, possible to DIY yourself)

what i know of is sth from 2006. so is not "updated"

alot of "IT" for big companies such as chevron/banks are using contracted IT staff from a certian company/agency. And these company are mostly stationed in msia.

And in aust, in terms of technicality in various industry where technical knowledge is involved. I would say, sinkies is 1 head shorter. BUT then and again i am merely generalising. the IT "specialist" they are looking for, u hv to ask urself, what is that you have over the indian nationals wyho have PHD in everywhere? and the ATs who is so good in maths?

In other words, if u are a snr IT specialist in Singapore who have the capability to take only manageral post or lead a team, maybe u have a chance to even complete at all. OR u r a IT who have various knowledge in various technical industries. such as scada/plc/master database/gaogao knowledge in C

thanks for the advise. guess i saved up and studied for another degree in Australia then try apply although I already have an aussie degree now (but not studying in australia) :(

I was quoted 5k by an agency in syd....but since u are converting from student visa, DIY bah, go to another thread i created, see if standbybed & I can help u along the way, cos student convert visa still much easier to do then ppl who need to convert from local uni degree.

I have some student frds just DIY themselves, if u hv questions i can help u ask them.

Local here agency also charging 5k... :) but best if u can get a job 1st.. no point you have PR but you cant sustain yourself in au...

you should consider moving here as a PR, then apply for HECS-HELP and study at local rate.

I have seen many cases whereby singaporeans, malaysians, HKer, PRCs, taiwanese mothers and their children emigrated to australia but the sole bread winner stayed back in their home countries to work. firstly avoid NS and secondly, they stand a better chance to go to the uni here and pay local student fees.
