The key point was imo, the court case of Jonathon Majors, whose role as Kang was supposed to be upcoming villain which will then usher in DD, got caught as a time where all the lead up movies and disney shows are playing out.

As usual, even without any sort of court judgement at that point of time, Disney chose to draw and cut the line, which meant Kang's storyline now have to be rewritten as a one off Ant Man boss despite the credit scene hinting at a much larger storyline.

Since there's no Avenger's level villian now, they got DD in but have a headache about who to cast since he was never planned to appear so early. Lump that together with all the Guild Writer's strike and DEI nonsense resulting in poor sales, and also the ''lesser'' superheros that's now taking the grand stage, getting RDJ back as a shock factor was one expensive solution that they hope will work, esp with Chris Evans coming back as well.

I think the multiverse saga was too complicated

It required viewers to follow both their Disney plus MCU series and the movies as well, resulting in a lot of story holes for non Disney plus movie goers to scratch their heads at

The premises of Kang dynasty was good but the overall execution wasn't

It would still be nice to see how they wrap things up with Kang arc using Dr Doom though

In the comics and all these decades in animation, Iron Man was the real 2nd-class hero... Along with Thor and Captain America.

X-Men had always been first-tier. The Fantastic 4 were pretty much the royal first family of Marvel too. Even Spiderman and The Hulk ranked high up there.

Iron Man's ascension to the top was purely due to the MCU... and of course, the perfect casting of Robert Downey Junior.

Only Hawkeye is the true lower-tier hero here, regardless of comics, animation or MCU.... Poor Clint Barton.

Sidenote: So glad that Jeremy Renner has somewhat recovered from his almost-fatal accident. Strong rumors that he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, 2nd-tier or not, he will forever be an awesome OG6 Avenger.

The whole idea of Disney shows was so that certain shows that does not need to be a movie can be told in a drama format and also we know it drives traffic and subs to Disney+. Link to money making end of day.
