Yes, WiFi 6 is still worth getting.

You can safely skip WiFi 6E and wait for WiFi 7 router to drop price in late 2025 or 2026.

Personally I do not recommend buying any true WiFi 7 router (with 6GHz band and 320MHz channel bandwidth support) because of the high cost, unless you want to subscribe to the 10Gbps plans which bundle WiFi 7 router.

I'm thinking of upgrading my crappy Singtel ASkey AP5100 mesh (dual) to tp-link XE75 non-Pro (dual), as I'm subscribed to 1Gpbs fibre service.
Will there be an improvement and will I run into any problems?

I'm using Singtel ONR with the below connection:

FTP
ONR(HG8244H)
port 1-----Askey mesh (living room)------------Askey mesh (MBR)----------PC
port 2----- smart TV (living room)
port 3------ Singtel TV STB
the 2 mesh are connected on ethernet backhaul, not wireless backhaul.

seems like spec wise, AX3000 is better than P version? at least for memory...i guess P was released later and have firmware support

RT-AX3000P is basically the same as RT-AX57, only has 256MB RAM and no USB port. It is the free router given by M1 1Gbps plan.

RT-AX3000 is the same as RT-AX58U V1, has 512MB RAM and USB port.

Don’t buy this one already. At this point in time. Get the the tp link be230 better. Cheaper, better, faster, stronger.

If you can use Ethernet backhaul, RT-AX3000P is a cost effective AImesh node, about S$80 or lower, BNIB from Carousell, dumped by M1 users.

just curious, if using wireless backhaul, what asus mesh router is recommended or features to look out for to be a good mesh router?

lets say main router is asus gt-ax6000 and u only need 1 mesh router. Any good combo or none because of dual band gt ax6000?

I tried to read dongknows but my brain just gets more confused as it seem to imply gt ax6000 is not good for main router since only dual band and no dedicated band for wireless backhaul?

In general, dual band is not a good solution for wireless backhaul. GT-AX6000 is good as either single router or main router for AImesh with wired backhaul, not good for wireless backhaul.

But if your mesh node can have good connection with the main node (placement is key), then it can still be used, you just have to lower your expecation.

Any recommendation for any routers that can do VLAN in access point mode to isolate IOT devices? Something not too expensive and for now looking at getting 3 for living room and 2 bedroom.
