can ask whats the reason not to take train back?

or is it just to get a diff. experience?

i went to the train stn nearly 5pm and the next train is 630am so decided not to wait. but actually kinda regret... cos the bus journey is about 2 hour plus =:p and it will stop at north bus terminal (ard mo chit, jj market area).

how to identify vans at the victory monument? any price range?

They will have a board on their window screen saying "AYUTTHAYA" in latin and also in Thai characters.

When u stop at victory monument u walk towards the monument.

when you see the first steps going down the bridge on your left, go down and walk to a small road just behind the shops, there , u can see the vans.

we paid 70 baht/person goin there. U should ask ..drop us at train station.

Coming back, you should take a Soi next to the well-known Ayutthaya hotel. (its on a diffrent location from the train station - actually it is on the other side of the river from the train station)

we paid 60 baht/person coming back.

WE left at 8, coming back at 4.

No traffic - the journey was only about 45 mins.

We did Ayutthaya in 4.5 hours, renting a motor bike for 150 baht

Rent a bicycle... cheap!
The tuk-tuk is a rip-off.
Bicycle rental could be found along the way into the old city.

erm.. you just sexposed me.. haha.. i rode there without license.

i never go langkawi b4 so dunno how. but ayutthaya not that difficult to travel. many prominent features.

like d3n mentioned, can get ayutthaya map before hand. get yourself oriented so that when you travel, you will know agar where you are on the map rather than searching the entire map inch by inch.

when you rent bike, the shop probably will give you another one which they will draw on to let you know how to move about.

Hi, would really appreciate if you can advice.
Where did you all manage to get a rather good map to orientate yourself?

Whenever I google, seems like the place is really small? or it's due to the grid size? I went to the library to borrow books on Ayutthaya too. As I'll be there on a 2days trip, hopefully I'll be able to enjoy with some cycling to do. I also prefer to cycle to explore the area.

2nd day will be back to BKK and before that, most likely to find some monks in temples for praying.

Can I know the temple to find Luang Phor Perm, is it far away from the main Ayutthaya town?

good luck riding a bicycle... :s13: especially when weather is super hot, but v cheaper indeed, ard 60B if i could remember. I prefer renting a motor bike, much easy to move ard.
Anyway the rental shops are just opp of the train station.

Anyone needs a Ayuthaya map can look for me, got 1 from my last trip there.

Haha, I am also going to stay at this place come May.

It seems like a relative simple but nice place.
Would be looking forward to my first trip to Ayutthaya.

And really crossing my finger and hoping that the "Reds" situation will get better.
