ok..im wrong about it.. by the way, why banks also pay bonuses for bank ops too since they are in the back office, they are more likely cost centre than profit centre.
And how many times bonuses they get? My friend in the treasury gets 23x of his monthly salary. But my friend suggested me not to join bank ops if I wanna learn more since bank ops is only 9-5 day job. That is for ppl who want work life balance. So personal banking is not my route.
Mncs that I mean are 500 fortune list.
Yep, ops is a cost centre and not a revenue centre. Not sure what does it have to do with them not getting a bonus though? Since the work they do is essential to the bank operating smoothly, they too should have a share in the sharing of the profits(i.e bonus). Of course they don't get as large a share of the bonus since they are considered less valuable then the staff members who bring in the profits. Not being a profit center doesn't mean they aren't important to the bottom line. I think the industry bonus standards in the last few years for ops like 3-9 months.
And ops is 9-5 job? I am doing ops as a temp job now and from what I see, it's a half half thing. I see those who are able to leave at 6 everyday and also those who have to come in at 7+ and leave at 9+ 10+ everyday so it really depends on what you do.
I do wonder how much is there to learn though. Given 2-3 years in an industry, you can pretty much learn the general workings and structure of that industry already unless you want the latest specifics. Which would be a never ending process of learning since at the rate technical information and products is being generated, half of what you learnt in a year is already out dated by the end of the year.
And what does ops have to do with personal banking??? I mean there personal have to go though some ops process sure but so does every other aspect of banking.
Anyway, what I want to do isn't ops either. I would prefer to go into sales myself.
Banks are MNCs? Global fortune 500. Not the one commonly cite which refers only to U.S based companies. This is just from the Top 50.
