You never learn or practice the basics of handling unknown calls? Here are some pointers from the authorities:
- Do not answer calls from unknown numbers.
- If you happen to answer such a call, hang up immediately. Do not reply to any question or respond to instructions to press any button on your phone.
- Never give out personal data such as your NRIC number, bank account number or any other identifying information in response to unexpected or suspicious calls.
- If you get a call from someone who says they represent a company or a government agency, verify the authenticity of the call. Hang up and call the organisation’s phone number on your account statem...
Install scamshield, it will warn you of potential scam/fraud calls, dun answer these calls.
When you have free data, you have tendency to answer any calls. I dun answer any calls cos it cost me $, even "genuine" numbers are tag with "scam", then I check and callback if I am expecting a call.
Just some basics to avoid being a victim of scam (even just entertainment but why?). Someone thought he can outsmart the scammer by chatting or tricking them, etc, in the end still got scam, it was in the news!
