Batam first timer

hi all, i will be going to Batam for the first time next week

1) do i need to pre-book ferry tickets in advance on the internet or can i just buy them on the day itself at harbourfront?

2) i will be buying the 2 way return tickets. do i need to do or present anything for the return ticket to the ticket counter at Batam when i reach Batam Centre? I understand that i have to pay fuel charge for the Batam boat back to Singapore and am not very sure how to do this

3) correct to say singaporeans do not need a visa to enter Batam?

normally I'll take the penguin ferry to batam

you need to buy ticket one hour before departure time
at harbourfront

For return trip
you need to pay $7 charge for return trip at batam centre

just go to the penguin counter at batam centre (level 1)
& give them your return ferry ticket,white immigration card
& the $7 fuel charge
they will process and give you the boarding pass

kind advice
if the hotel you're staying do not provide free pick up service
at batam centre when you arrive
there is a taxi service counter just outside the glass door at batam centre
do not wonder outside the carpark..
the taxi drivers will swarm around you begging for your
service
they might rip you off with an expensive journey trip

go batam got standard overhead of S$27 for departure/fuel surcharge/terminal fee.. so jb/malacca may work out to be cheaper..

the famous fish soup should be the rumah makan Istimewa restaurant where they serve seafood fish soup & fish otah otah
there is one at nagoya town
just say yong kee Istimewa fish soup restaurent to taxi driver

you should also try the bak ku teh stall at Indo Rasa coffee shop in nagoya

for shopping
Nagoya hill shopping mall is the most famous & biggest
in batam

The white card will be collected back by the batam
immigration officer after chopping your passport
at the departure hall

To get to megamall
at the arrival hall after clearing custom
you will see the exit door at the left after a row
of money changer shops
DO NOT exit
just walk further down & look for a escalator to level 2
there is a long bridge at level 2 connecting batam centre ferry terminal direct to mega mall
use the overhead bridge to "siam" all
the touts & taxi drivers

If you are going to water front terminal
I presume that you are going to one of the resorts there
then you don't have to worry
the resort will settle for you the boarding pass

I recommend Harris Resort batam if you are planning
a batam resort getaway

if not enough then change.

best if u request for the 50K notes.
most taxi driver usually "don't" have small change.
