Anyone after washing have black seaweed substance after wash or dark clothes have white residue stains?
Some say the 'seaweed' is caused by softener & white stains from powder detergent.
My top-load washing machine is new so cannot be drum dirty.
My old front-loader (which is spoilt) didn't have this issue.
Seems like your current powder detergent isn’t very compatible with your top load washer, maybe time to switch to liquid detergent or pods.

After use, best to open lid for a few hours to allow excess water to evaporate away. Black seaweed is basically bacteria colony/mold scum that grows when there is excess humidity with left over detergent/softener.

Once in month, use Washing Machine Cleaner with tub clean cycle

Switching won’t immediately fix what scum that has already attached/grown on your washing machine drum but it will reduce new growth. So you still need to use washing machine cleaning powder to remove the current scum from the drum as it will continue to grow more without intervention.
