When I place parched paper under the food, the underside does not receive much heat and not cooked well. Not using the paper, food gets cooked evenly

That's true but I guess it depends on what you are cooking too. If we are lazy to clean, we'll just use the wax paper liner and flip whatever you are frying halfway tru.

Can experienced air fryer users share why my air fried food, fish nuggets, fries, etc. does not stay crispy after a short half hour.
Because they are not deep fried.
Do not use air fryer for carbo food such as fries.

Fries are crispy because it loses starch when deep fry in wok. In air fryer, starch are retained therefore not crispy.

You want additional crispy, you need to soak in water for 30 minutes.
But then air fryer is still not for starchy items.

Can always flip the food.

A bit troublesome but cleaner.

BTW, I have converted back to old school method of frying in a wok. As you mentioned nuggets, fries, hash browns are much crispy and stay crispy longer. (y)

You need to use oil spray on nuggets and hash browns if you want to fry it in air fryer.

Then turn the temperature to the highest so that it will be extra crispy.

For fries, it will not be crispy even if you apply oil because of starch.

Now got cosori, Toshiba, China. And Philips sold their airfryer division to China yet maintain high price. Which is ur most favourite brand?
My favourite is Tokit. No need flip to when air-frying, cheap too.

Do air fryers cause cancer?

Air-frying equipment is not known to cause cancer, but the process of air frying does result in the formation of certain compounds, like acrylamide, that are linked to cancer development. Acrylamide is classified as a probable human carcinogen. Acrylamide is formed when foods are heated to temperatures above 120 degrees Celsius (120°C) or 250 degrees Fahrenheit (250°F). During the heating process, a series of chemical reactions (called the “Maillard reaction”) involving sugars and amino acids contained in food results in the formation of acrylamide. Foods that are high in carbohydrates, such as potato chips, French fries, and baked goods contain the highest levels of acrylamide, but fish, meat, and vegetables produce smaller amounts of acrylamide when cooked.

That is why better not air fry starchy items ..

Only air fry real foods like chicken or beef.
