Lower temps may not be something positive. It could mean that your gfx card is not utilised to the maximum in games.

When I am gaming, especially in those AAA titles with intensive graphics, I actually want the gfx card to be pushed to the max=> higher temps but still within healthy range.

Lower utilisation might affect performance.

Can use MSI Afterburner or Evga Precision X to monitor the GPU usage and also see if there's any throttling due to high temps.

before i upgraded the driver (playing witcher 3)

Max GPU 70 deg for 1st GPU, 2nd GPU idle at 40+deg.... LOL..

i thought my 2nd GPU spoil or Witcher has a different setting to activate the 2nd GPU, until i download the new driver.. temp around 60+... and both GPU temp is active

Because the older driver doesn't have sli profile for Witcher 3. Thus only first GPU is running.

Lol saw your post in corbell.

Yeah so long as game do not have sli profile your 2nd gpu wont kick in.

2nd gpu is a slave card and will only work when its needed.

And yes 980 msi fan is unique. Got extra fan pwm pins to independent control of the fans.

In most situation only 1 fan will kick in if its hot. And if it hits above a certain temperature both fans will move.

If you game with aircon turned on, best 1 fan spIn all the way. And on idle the fan wont move.

stay within 80C. some even too scared to goo near 75C.

Not 85 I'm not scared :s22::s13:

Then again I'm stuffing my GTX 980 in this:
P1060229.jpg

Temps rarely go below 80 on any modern game like evolve, Borderlands the pre sequel, Witcher 2, Assasin's creed unity, even freaking hard reset.

If it dies because of the temp then I'll have to RMA lor....
