Biennial PC Upgrading

Hi Bros & Gurus,

Black Friday event is around the corner and I would like to upgrade my existing PC to prepare for next gen game

So would like your expert advice on the parts to change or keep

Existing PC
Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU
Case: Lian Li PC-O6S
MoBo: Asus H87M-PRO
CPU: Intel i5-4590
CPU Cooler: Standard CPU Fan
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (4x4GB)
GPU: Palit GTX 970 Jetstream
PSU: Superpower Leadex 600W
HDD: 2TB
SSD: 512GB Sandisk Extreme Pro

There are some constraint in space due to the lian li casing. Lian Li PC-06S compatibility enclose here for easy reference

Requirement:
1) Constant 60fps or more for current AAA games in 1440p resolution
2) No overheating (facing this issue regularly now) as live in non-air condition room
3) System to gel nicely without any parts restraining other pc parts performance
4) No overclocking. No idea how to overclock
5) Budget to be around 1.5k? lesser better

sorry, mayb im using the wrong term ...looking forward to ME andromeda, GR:Wildlands, For Honor etc..in 60fps+++ 1440p

currently gtx 970 playing mafia 3, infinite warfare have inconsistent fps in 1440p

would love to re-play again witcher with the 2 dlc. this game deserve to play with the best setting

i will try to take some photos when i get back from work. its a very aesthetic case. just that the space constraint is turning me down

don't see how ram will bottleneck considering you already got 16gb...

easiest first step would probably be to upgrade your CPU cooler from the stock CPU fan IMO...
If your system is overheating, a couple more well placed static pressure fans would be good also
Cheap fixes overall (assuming you don't go crazy on watercooling). Even a budget air cooler like the Cryorig H7 would be a good step up.

If your aim is to get good framerate at 1440p on ultra settings, just get a 1070 and call it a day. Should have whacked the zotac one during the last qoo10 sales.

Anyways cpu wont bottleneck unless u playing those massive online multiplayer games.....like guildwars2 or WoW etc.

Just checked out your current case - stock is only 3 120mm fans in exhaust, but no intake fans. Maybe that's a reason for the overheating? Case design is really narrow though so looks like it's hard to improve on airflow by adding any fans - the only other fan slot is a 140mm rear exhaust, no intake fan slots on the front or bottom to move air across the components.

If you have $ to splash and want to keep using this case, add a AIO liquid cooler and get a MSI 1080 seahawk

thanks for the suggestion. but i dont think cryorig h7 will fix in my case. max height is around 85mm.. i look at cryorig is around 145mm

was suppose to whack vp 1080..but out of coupon..sad

really? its few gens ago iirc..upgrading to new cpu doesnt help in improving gameplay? even by lil bit?

didnt do any changes to stock lian li fan setup. thats why its hot when its encased in glass. can even feel the heat.

got few times the computer autoshutdown..and i suspect its due to overheating

and mero is right, case desin is really narrow and almost no slot ot add any additional fans.

yea. been thinking to get h100i even though i didnt do any overclocking

Maybe you should upgrade to asus x99 rampage edition 10. With i7 6950x

gtx 1080 will be substantial upgrade compare to 970?

so will just wait for black friday and hoot 1080.

get 1080 now? or wait a few more years for volta?
