Big fire in a HDB unit

should be those gas powered clothes dryer. I've used such things before. very powerful, just need 40mins and everything dry including socks that are bunched up together will be dry. as in bone dry, directly can fold and keep in cupboard type of dry. uses gas and more economical than electric.

How come the aircon window unit put outside window

These r oldies flats build when hdb first started
All houses only 10% hv ac usually no ac. Today gotten so hot 8899 have ac , 5-10% no ac
They r always outside and need to use some approved bracket cannot anyhow else will killer litter

"Mr Lawrence Tan, a resident living on the ninth floor with his wife and two-year-old grandson, said that he detected a "fishy" rubber smell around 1pm. After leaving his flat, he encountered a lady in her 40s running down from the 10th floor seeking help.

It was her house that had caught fire, and she claimed that it started from the clothes dryer in the kitchen, Mr Tan said.

"I helped her to call 995 and we knocked on the doors on the ninth floor before taking the lift down," said the 74-year-old added."

That was my old house. It was sold in July 2021 to new owners. Heard from neighbours it was caused by washing machine or vaccum cleaner

It's a point block. Only four units per level. So I think only units on that side are affected

Just spotted a huge fire at a unit while driving on CTE. Possibly Toa Payoh point block. Raging and lots of thick smoke.
