Bluesg is Not everyone's cup of tea.

Suits me perfectly. I took bluesg from toa payoh to boon lay, cost me $9.80. It's a good price for me. Maybe not for you..

Weekly membership is free, but rental is 50 cents per min.
Premium membership is $15/month, and rental is discounted to 33 cents.

Premium membership for 1 year was free during the initial months of launching :)

Yeap. I am comparing with the cost of car ownership. The cost of car ownership is about average $1200 per month with depreciation cost factor in.

The usage of bluesg along with a mix of taxi, phv, tribecar, smoove and public transport is lower for my case.

Another perspective of looking at bluesg membership is comparing with hdb season parking of $120 per month vs the $15 per month of membership fee.

It's just how you justify your cost at the end of the day.

I’m curious, how reliable is this bluesg?

I often encounter friends who are using this service ended up unable to book the car or return at certain locations. Very de mafan..

Different folks have different expectations of reliability. Also depends how many stations nearby your pickup/destination area.

So I'll just share my experience - Heng heng, I am 5 mins walk away from 2 stations, and 10/15 mins away from 2 more. Even so, it happened to me 3 times over the past 11 months. I use on average 30 times a month. Hence reliability for me is over 99%.

Concept is a bit different. You get real-time update of where the available cars are, and where got parking. Very good for us locals who are familiar(and even fond) of "choping" seats.

For pickup - can chope 30 mins in advance. Esp if you see only 1 car left in your preferred pickup area, quickly chope first. Then brush teeth, wait for wife to get ready etc. With the current app version, even if dun have available car now, can use queue-pop to chop next available car. If you see another nearby station got car, anytime can switch to chope the car at that other station.

For return - can chope 45 mins in advance. If you can reach destination within 45 mins, chope parking right after you chope the car. Again, my tactic is to always chope first if only 1 parking space left. Can also queue-pop or switch to another station anytime.

Compared to some other carpooling services, I find this a lot more reliable, esp since I am not paying membership.

Car you get is always the same type, so no need to waste time figuring out controls for AC/Radio or familiarizing with the car/turning radius/front & rear curb clearance etc. No need to waste time looking for petrol station to fill back up.

Having said all that, even though I think this is a great model, if finances allow, having your own car is the most convenient.

I find myself sending elderly relatives to hospital, temples and airport more and more. Most of these places do not have a BlueSG station nearby. By the time you return the car and walk back to drop off point, they complain why so long leow. So end up I still need to rent a normal car sometimes.

Currently BlueSG have about 100 stations. Target is 1,000 stations.
If they can make until every alternate carpark got a station, then no horse run.

I have been using BlueSG for the last one month. It was a good experience. They do have good and friendly customer services. You should compare it with owning a car. It is cheaper than owning a car. Although the only downside about BlueSG is that you may sometime end up with no car to go with.

My frequent travel route often occurs from Serangoon to Orchard. Cab fare will go from $15-$20 one way but I can do that like $18 doing a round trip during non-peak hour.

Treat BlueSG like a cab/personal car within your control. You do not need to wait at the road side to get a cab. Rent from point A and return to point B. Plan your route and time properly to save your pocket.

never use.... find them explioting the electric car.... become underdemand.....

srs hr/min per use policy is worst than monthly subscription..... did a calculation and it cost 2k plus to fully drive bluesg per month.

the main purpose for bluesg is to travel from point A to B. its a car sharing, not normal car rental.

i use other car sharing as well, as i’m a relatively tall person i usually adjust the car seat to the lowest as possible. the bluesg car lowest seat setting is still so damn high when i check blind spots and rear mirror i have to hunch my back to see properly. their end rental system oso problematic give me a lot of problem when ending rental. i signed up their free premium last year dec when they released. they also just automatic renew your membership for u without permission
