wow guys interesting convo here while i was gone for abt one day LOL. anyway to address all parties ah:

hmm, as an NSF who hasnt even reached his one-year mark, i have nothing on watever experiences the lao jiaos have expressed here. they may be correct and valid for all i know and bother. and kyoji, i might get posted back to supply as a 'storeman spec' aka CQMS or 'admin spec' aka Ops Sergeant. maybe i'll tio Infantry or Guards (GG shag) after all, i can still do my best and find fulfilment wherever i get posted to after.

heck, if i dont make the cut then dont make the cut lor. if i get selected and made it out of all, then good. ultimately just doing my best everywhere i go, in this case recoursing BMT.

and generally from wat i've seen there're no 'wrong' ans. outdated or inapplicable ones maybe. but thanks sotonglove for the most applicable ans to my case :)

peace all. now i gotta be off and finish wat i started and left long ago :)

If your unit post you to BMTC for recourse, your fate is unknown.

If your unit just sent you for BMT course, actually you can know your fate because you will be coming back to unit. As long as there are quota for Supply Supervisor or Admin Supervisor in your unit, it can be recommended by your commander to sent you to the Supervisor course after BMT.

  • Unit Manpower Operations Course (for Admin Supervisor) @ Human Resource Institute
  • Supply Supervisor Course @ Supply & Transport Centre

hi all, ''siao onz'' NSF REC here :s22:
so my story goes, i enlisted in 4th jan 2017 enhanced leadership batch. i OOT due to pneumonia (mere days before my field camp. ****ed up) and down to temp pes e. :(
i got posted to supply unit, and in 25th august managed to up to B1L1 back again. however i still havent received recourse FFI and can only do ippt at end of september. wat are the chances i can be squeezed into october enhanced leadership? if can or cannot, any recommendations? :s11:
i wanna recourse and goto command school though preferably SCS now so i dont have to extend as long as compared to OCS. ;)
i may get alot of flak from my fellow NSFs (we the mostly-unwilling enlistees LOL) for saying this, but im aiming for command school so to make my 2 years as fulfilling as possible. and in the past 6 months as a chill clerk-storeman, this fire hasnt gone out yet. every single day here got me questioning, isit still worth it to push so much, when any rational NSF would prefer to lepak serve and f*** off till IC turns pink? and then my very reasons for pushing so much would keep me on track. :s12:
i am more sure than ever that i wanna take this second chance. and if i dont make the cut for command school, so be it cos at least i know i did smth right for myself :)
If you have already set your mind on it, then just go ahead and pursue it, don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

With regards to recourse, work your way up the chain of command (reasonably) and approach the appropriate people. I've known situations where the direct superior is reluctant to do anything because of his own opinion, and that you have to go one or two levels up before something can happen (but do so reasonably, like I said).

I've known officers who were in the same situation as you, and made it for recourse and OCS (which won't be difficult for you now that you got an advantage over other recruits). Of course, barring deployment duration issues, OCS/SCS is a choice for you to make, if you qualify.

There may be a high chance you won't be posted back to your previous unit, if you do subsequently qualify and enter command school after BMT, since your vocation is, as a recruit, undetermined yet. Once you enter command school, you may be placed in a different vocation.

I've known officers who were storeman, but subsequently end up in Armour and even Air Force after being posted to OCS after their BMT recourse. In this case, your unit will be out of the loop with regards to your posting after command school, since it will be determined by the respective school's CO and the formation's manpower needs.

Do take note your deployment duration after successful completion of command school will be shorter than other graduands (since you've completed almost half your service) and will be taken into account for your posting (and any further courses they need to send you for, depending on your appointment).

I don't think posting is solely determined by school CO and formation manpower needs only.

Also I think depending on the duration left and whether go SCS or OCS, may need to extend service not just deploy shorter.

CO School will make recommendations based on advice from instructors, taking into account their position in the course too. (Cadets will be informed of their posting (roughly) towards the end of course, pending the confirmed posting at graduation.) This is from experience though, so take it as a reference only.

Extension of service will only make the minimum deployment period (6 months for officers), which will still be shorter than typical (11 months for officers).

If you aren't enlightened by how logic works, I can't help you if you choose to be in denial.

You can make the most and do the most what you are doing now.

If you can't then not sure how you will be suitable for what you are looking for.
