Hi Guys,

I'm still a uni student who just want to use the BOC smartsaver to get the prevailing interests for deposits (planning to put $20k and get the 0.35% interests), and don't mind not getting the bonus interests from salary or spending etc (can't get either).

Then yesterday I went to the Woodland Branch and explain to the counter guy, he explain the bonus interest in detail but I kept telling him I just want the prevailing interest only, then he say "so you just want to open a saving account only?", I was like, "i want to open a BOC smart saver but only use it to deposit money and not gonna get the extra interest", I not sure he understand or not but went on to open the account.

So today after a horrendous internet banking experience (didnt know he activate the token alr until I read previous posts, amongst other probs), I finally got in. I went to the Account summary and saw my Account type is "Passbook Savings", is this still the BOC SmartSaver? Can I still get the prevailing interests?

Smart saver is the sexier name. It's just a multi currency saving account

So MCS = Smartsaver = Passbook Savings?

These 3 essentially the same? Why don't they standardize? its so confusing.

And you know the letter with login info, the id and password is printed so faint like as if the printer no ink, then their internet banking interface damn jialat....

There are better choices if you not going for bonus interest. Eg scb dash account. Search for dash promo.

I have a question.
I am still not sure about requirement to meet the 500 credit/debit spending and bill payment. For example if I want to pay mobile phone bill and SP services bill by credit card. Do these bills count as bill payment or credit card spending, or even both?

If pay by internet banking or giro from smartsaver account it is bill payment. If pay using visa/masters etc using credit/debit card it is card spend.

Hi all,

I have a Smartsaver account and some BOC credit cards. I have not gone down to the branch to link the credit cards to the smartsaver account.

Without linking the both of them together, can i spend on the credit cards and expect to quality for the minimum $500 credit card spending under the Smartsaver account? Please advise. Thanks! :D

asked the same question before. according to some bros here. yes. linking the card is for you to easily see and track your transactions.

Hi all,

How can I use BOC account to pay for my bills and earn interest under the Spending category? I am having difficulty hitting the $500 minimum spending and hope to pay the bills under Card Spending.

Anyone knows if there is an option to link the BOC credit card online?
