Any recommendations on the easiest way to satisfy the $500 card spend for UOB One?

Yes think BOC+UOB one (3.55% and 2.43%) is better than BOC+OCBC (2.55% and 2.25%), as can do 3 giro bill payment instead of salary crediting. Minor difference is uob one 2.43% is for $50k only, not $60k.

using BOC debit card to pay for your cc via AXS only counts towards your 500 spending.. only bill payment using BOC's ibanking bill payment function will count towards bill payment..

for example you have a cc bill of $505
what the lao jiaos do here is we pay the min of $5 via the ibanking bill payment function, and we pay the balance $500 using BOC debit card via AXS.. 2 birds with 1 stone

You still have $15 unpaid even including the fee waiver or was the fee waiver credited before the GIRO so you have overpaid $177.6?

the former-
the unpaid was brought forward to next bill (without penalty) but
due to this oversight, I spent $1985 nia for my last month of my quarter.

intending to ask uob for "leniency" when rebate in next statement

Hmm so what to do to avoid GIRO failing to trigger, need to leave unpaid amount more than the annual fee?

this seems to be the solution lor (add $11 as $10 will not activate giro)
that is why I brought up the issue

OR have 4 Giros , the 4th as a standby for any such failure

Lol maybe you can raise the issue to UOB. Raise issue here not solving the root of the problem.

Is the $500 cc spend only for retail transactions?
Can I charge insurance premiums to it?

Thanks.

yup due to the following reasons.

1. Company doesnt pay salary to BOC accounts.
2. my 365 cc spending is more inclined towards petrol+online spending, giving me discounts and rebates of 18.3% & 3% respectively. (typical month - 800/mth dining (boc), 200-300/mth petrol @ esso (18.3% discount), 500/mth online (3%) spending)
3. i find ocbc online banking much friendlier compared to uob.
4. earn bonus int up to 60k instead of 50k.
5. im not forced to spending a certain amt every month to qualify for quarter rebates. sometimes i miss my ocbc monthly spend it's ok.

of cause if u guys if still find uob + boc combo better can let me know, but if it is marginal im not going to bother cause changing salary account is such a hassle lol

nets payment

Hello,

If i pay by nets using the BOC debit card for my gym membership, will it count towards the min spend of $500?

Asking as my gym doesn't accept payment by MasterCard.

Thanks!

Hi,

Reading the last two pages of this thread, I saw that you can actually pay other Credit Card Bills with AXS using BOC Mastercard Debit and it will count towards the $500 spending interest.

I was thinking should I then ditch my BOC Visa and then aim for other rebates card that do not have min/low spending requirement for rebates. That way, I can play around few cards without limiting myself to one card as fulfilling $500 cc transactions seems not that easy as I thought. Plus BOC Visa rebates doesn't look that attractive as well.

Well, there are few rebate card with lower or no min spending requirement and benefits not as good as boc family supp card
