very funny, requested for fee waiver for the family rebate card, only partial fee waiver received. Called to check, was told that they will only grant partial fee waiver for this particular card and some customers do not even get full waiver. So i just tell the CSO i wanted to cancel then since i do not really use the card regularly. He asked me to hold a while and then told me they will grant the full waiver for my case. Please check your account properly, dont be a fool paying the fee as there are so many CCs desperately waiting for you to sign up, giving at least min the 1st year free.

Did not happen to me. My BOC account is only left with $1000 after they rejected my 2nd appeal to waive the fee. And I used the card as my main card every month for the past 2 years.

I realized my interest is lower. Any changes to the T&C?

It is at least $30 lower.

Is it only one category of the bonus interest is lower or all categories affected, if all then maybe your ADB is lower.

ok, think most likely will cancel this card before the next annual fee is due. I wonder is it because your account is low in funds, that's why they refuse to waive the fee? Did you request to cancel the card or you requested and not granted, then after paying u cancel it?

The credit card spends Smartsaver, do anybody know whether it is base on transaction dates or book keeping dates? It gets tricky when u have these dates crossing over end of the mth and beginning of next mth.

I meant that I decided to transfer out all my savings after they rejected 2nd appeal to waive the fees. So the account is now left with $1000 to avoid the fall below fee. I have since set up a Maybank account as my new salary account. The $300 giro requirement is not an issue cos I pay my income tax monthly. The accompanying card is a general spend card like Uob1. The only issue I have now is Maybank mobile banking app is even worse than BOC app!

You might want to double check if $1000 Will avoid the fall below fee.

A monthly account maintenance fee of S$3 will be charged if your monthly average account balance is less than S$1,500.

so did u pay the fee and cancel the card? Did you tell them u will cancel the card when they refuse to waive in the 1st place?

It is because someone had mentioned that fee waiver can be granted easily so long u spend on the card, that i decided to open this account.

I spent between 1-1.5k on average every month. When they first charged the fee, they told me that its a good card which is why they cannot waive my principal card fee. I kind of agreed, so I paid up.

Then within a week, they changed the T&C. So I called up BOC to complain. The officer advised me to appeal for another waiver and if the waiver appeal is rejected, then pay up what I owed the bank minus the fee and then cancel card.

So I did that and also decided to set up Maybank Saveup account and transfer out the bulk of my savings. Together with UOBone, I reckon I can earn even more interest now while spending less on credit card.
