spin bowling example.. normally uses 11lb balls. 12lb for SOME.

the 2 taiwanese bowlers and Jennifer tan from singapore are some of the reowned spin bowlers in the region :D

for hoook, nromally uses 13-16lb balls.. examples from PBA, USA :)

ooh~ thanks alot!

anw, seems like i'm a lil bit of a hook bowler~ however, i'm using house balls & with my thumb out of the hole. Should the thumb be in the hole as well if i bowl hook? seems like the thumb hole is too near~ wonder how i can improve my game?

thumb should be in the hole. therefore you got to get a bowling ball instead of using the house ball if you decided to go serious into bowling.

Hi, house ball are designed for conventional grip. (The thumb hole is nearer to your fingers.) It is not suitable / designed for hook purpose, more specifically for casual bowlers who throw straight or spinners. A lot of bowlers like to throw hook with the thumb out, but it's really for entertainment purpose.

If you want to bowl hook, you have to buy a fingertip ball. The thumb hole will be further away from your fingers and your fingers will be holding the ball by their tips. When you release the ball and pull up your finger at the tip, the ball will hook itself. Fingertip ball needs to be designed specifically for your hands as each of us has a different palm size. That's also the reason why you don't find publicly used fingertip balls that often in bowling centres.

ooh thx for the advice~ i hope to get a new ball & stuff when I come back to sg mayb end of the year or so~ would be leaving sg in wks, so no pt buying now~ anw, what would be good models of balls to start off with for hook bowlers? see some debate btw reactive & polyester, hook ratings, weight & hole drilling~

i'm very comfortable with a 11lb house ball with my thumb out haha~

The brunswick avalanche series, Storm street rod , Hammer Razr , Ebonite Clash/ Bash.
Get those which are a series higher than the entry. You'll grow out of it easily.

Yar.. I used to have an entry level ball, outgrew it within a year. Wished I had bought a better ball at the start so can just save some money
