it is really every time change brake pads, change rotor. something about the stock pads causing high rotor wear. I guess that's how German car manufacturers earn money

In my humble opinion, something isn't right if you have to change rotors everytime you change brake pads. Rotors are supposed to last much longer than brake pads.

My German car only changed rotor for the v first time after 6 years, mileage around 120,000km. After that changed 2 times brake pad (stock), rotor still like new. Something is definitely wrong w your car

yup. mechanic told me if i use stock brake pads, every time i change pads, i have to change rotor. now that i'm using EBC greenstuff, he said every 2nd time i change the pads, then i change the rotor.

that is how the manufacturer design its stock rotors, in my case, they decide to have a stock thin rotor

I have 3 beemers here that use stock rotor and brake pads since day 1. All 3 only changed the first rotor (still stock) around 100,000km. Thereafter, the stock replacement rotor all survived 3 replacement sets of stock brake pads.

Yours must be a v special model

it's either you are driving M model with OEM Brembo brakes, or my braking is very harsh.

just did a bit of googling, it is said that bmw has soft metal rotors which wears out fast, but as a result has higher braking performance and less warping.

driving style matters I guess. I don't think I would want to risk myself by changing the rotors after it reduced beyond minimum spec after 2-3 pad change

Wow $80 for a pair of brake pads is cheap! If include fixing even cheaper.

More than 20 years ago I paid $90+ for honda original pads from waterloo street to fix myself. Still got to spend $6 on brake fluid and got my hands dirtied.

Hi,

Does anyone have any workshop to recommend that sell original brake pads for honda civic 1.6?

I wish to use back the same brand and type of brake pads.

The pads sold by kah currently for front at $190 and for rear at $170 exclude labour charge.

Another workshop riverview auto that i have found charged for front at $100 and for rear at $70 to $80 and labour charge between $40 to $50.

Are the prices provided by this workshop reasonable?

The work shop has mentioned that there are alot variants of the brake pads ( like quality wise ) on the market but as far as i can remember kah work shop has told me that there are only 1 type of brake pad for civic.

Are there something i need to be aware of? Thank you for your advice.
