shame on all the bashings and name callings of both player and club before the guilty verdict. probably the same few will sing a totally different tone when it happens to their supported players and clubs

A Premier League footballer has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.

The millionaire ace – also a regular player for his country – had his home raided by police and was arrested on Friday.

The Mirror cannot name him for legal reasons.

Police have released a statement declaring that the star was arrested last week.

The statement, from Greater Manchester Police, read: "Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Friday 16 July 2021 on suspicion of child sex offences.

"He is on police bail pending further enquiries."

The player's club have confirmed to Mirror Football that he has been suspended.

They said: "The Club can confirm it has suspended a first-team player pending a police investigation.

"The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.

A source told The Mirror: “This has caused a massive shock.

“Any suggestion of allegations of offences involving a child are rightly taken seriously from the point they are made.”

The footballer has earned a fortune in wages and has attracted multi-million-pound transfer fees during his career.

The insider added: “Clearly this matter must be fully investigated. Allegations of this nature will cause a considerable amount of alarm among everyone within the club, the fans, and the wider public.

"This is now a case of waiting to see where the investigation takes us.”

He was arrested wasn't he? UK Police not like SPF. They have to have either a warrant from a judge or sufficient cause to effect an arrest.
The name calling goes with the territory

reports are saying he was arrested "on suspicion of child sex offences", he may end up being guilty after all but just pointing out how people tend to make biased condemnations and judgements before being proven guilty, is like someone being accused of a wrongdoing and straightaway the world brands his parents as sh*t

Of course he's innocent and they have to use the word on suspicion. If say for example the RVH boy was arrested, he's also innocent until he pleads guilty or the prosecution proves it case beyond reasonable doubt and the defense cannot overcome it.
But the very fact he's been arrested means there's enough prima facie evidence to effect that arrest.
No smoke without fire as they say.

I think it's a minor thing, he only exchanged messages, but the Law forbids as it is seen as grooming.
He should know better being the older man and also how many young girls go crazy over players at clubs. He's not some 17 year old like Pedri.

But the fact that he put himself into such a position, that has brought needless unwanted attention to him and Everton FC.

RV case is slightly different, the boy said he killed someone before even his arrest and investigations were done with enough details for him to be charged, though yes in both cases the accused had similiarly brought unwanted attention to their affiliated organisations.

Schools/club rivalries are common, supporters of each side engage in banters and names calling over performance and achievements which are perfectly reasonable, but condemning their organisations over individual criminal acts though is crossing the line don't you think?
