That one is (Putin's) face saving statement lah.. :s13:

It is part of the neutrality wordings Ukraine has to put into it's constitution. As good as turning Ukraine into a defenseless vassal state of Russia.

The war had already made the average Ukrainian hate Russia for generations, and turned Russia into an international pariah. I doubt the Ukranians will go down without a fight, even if Zelensky formally ask the people to.

Putin already wants to De-nazify and demilitarize Ukraine as an invasion goal.
Any peace deal will only work if Russia promises to disarm Crimea and the 2 republics.

Yes, no naval base in Crimea.
Otherwise what is the point since Ukraine will still within range of the Black Sea fleet.

Playing politics is about mixing around with different forces of power, be it office politics, global politics or geopolitics... To end up in such a state as zelensky Ukraine is already an epic fail.....

LKY can settle both US and China..... As well as Malaysia...... Zelensky can't even settle US and NATO, dun even need to say Russia.....

Politics involves using people, taking sides and flipping sides... Interest of yours and others.....

Zelensky is good at acting, touching speeches, rallying martyrs, BUT he's no politician.
He is helping us get rid of a crazy putin. Admire him for it cause U not fighting in the front lines…

No lah. By being neutral it just means Ukraine must agree never to join any alliance (in this case NATO and EU).

And it's not like Ukraine gets to decide since it's pretty clear by now that even if Ukraine wants to join, NATO also won't accept Ukraine as member.

It is a shame that you are not a Ukrainian peasant having your homes shelled at and becoming a refugee.

SG did not formalise relations with China until 1990 despite the fact that Deng XiaoPing came here in the 70s.This was to avoid being seen as a 3rd China in South East Asia.

Formalising relations with China would have been popular with many of the older Singaporeans at that time as that would allow them to visit their birthplace. SG could have insisted it was our sovereign right to establish relations with anyone but we did not.

Why did we wait till 1990 before formalising relations with China. BECAUSE that was the year Indonesia restored relations with China.

Moral of the Story? If you got a big suspicious neighbour. Dun go and give excuse for them to invade and shell your cities.
Russia been planning for months and years to subvert ukraine, started in 2014 when they annexed Crimea.

there will always be a ‘big suspicious’ neighbour around the corner. So what u going to do? They gonna tear u down bit by bit. Take a stand and let them wear themselves out

Erm, no. Russia doesn't really hate Ukraine (I mean, in the same way Palestine hates the Jews).

Henry Kissinger: To settle the Ukraine crisis, start at the end

By Henry A. Kissinger
March 5, 2014
Henry A. Kissinger was secretary of state from 1973 to 1977.

....The West must understand that, to Russia, Ukraine can never be just a foreign country. Russian history began in what was called Kievan-Rus. The Russian religion spread from there. Ukraine has been part of Russia for centuries, and their histories were intertwined before then. Some of the most important battles for Russian freedom, starting with the Battle of Poltava in 1709 , were fought on Ukrainian soil. The Black Sea Fleet — Russia’s means of projecting power in the Mediterranean — is based by long-term lease in Sevastopol, in Crimea. Even such famed dissidents as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Joseph Brodsky insisted that Ukraine was an integral part of Russian history and, indeed, of Russia....

It goes more than just the alliance. By neutrality, Russia meant that Ukraine won't be allowed to a strong army equipped by the western forces. And by extension, Ukraine will no longer have any ability to stand up for itself.

ukr hates russia now. its a given. juz look at the jews, bo dai bo chi kenna 1 missile every other day. russkies will never allow them to keep arms....
No sure after the eventual cease fire, Russia still have the means to interfere with Ukraine's affair.

As for the Jews, I suspect Palestine hates Jews more than the other way round. But that's another story for another day.

You still dun get it. The ppl who are having to live a life of having homes shelled, loved ones killed and running like refugees is not you. Easy for you to say let the enemy wear themselves out.

If you have a big suspicious neighbour, dun give them an excuse to hoot you.

Tsk, sinkee peasants really lack critical thinking. Read and just regurgitate nia.

Cease fire vs surrender is just a term in legality.
Cease fire means both sides step back and come to terms.

Surrender means one side has to lose or admit they lose.

You gotta consider the cons of not signing it also.

If the cons outweighs the pros, then Ukraine is better off signing the deal.
