1. intel platform for a long time since sandy or ivybridge overclock is based on overriding the turbo multiplier table while the turboboost flag is bios enabled.

Did nothing wrong there is probably something else. But if u wanna protect ur cpu while oced can enable overcurrent protection, current max cap at around 100A than 255.50 (no protection). There's an Intel datasheet that mentions the CPU reliability cannot be guaranteed over 100A sustained on 95W TDP Skylake-S cores. You can take it a step further by capping the max wattage.

2. Mention enough to pinpoint its cpu fault. Follow instructions but keep info you picked up suggesting its the chip. You basically have to exhaust the checklist before you can get to the next level of support then the case manager tell you how to do the RMA.

Rest is YMMV depend on your own

Ballistic ddr4 ram 2400mhz

Asus said the RAM is not compatible

download asus list of compatible RAM

buy RAM again!

My bad, didn't gave the full discription and mis spelled.

It should be:
Crucial Ballistix sport LT ddr4 ram 2400mhz

Amended the 1st post accordingly Le.

Thanks for clarifying and the tips man!

Or could it be because I set the vcore to "auto"? Although I am quite sure I set the vcore manually.

Or plugging in and out the psu cable without switching of the psu and power socket.

==========================

With regards to RMA,

I will have to be by my pc to go though intel's check list with their CSO on a weekday's working hour?

Psps, what is YMMV?

Your mileage may vary.

By right, overclocked warranty is void
(unless you buy performance tuning plan)

By left, if the chip is physically intact, PCB not warped, no burnt marks etc it will probably pass their visual mechanical inspection and RMA may be approved.

Yea 9am-5pm call lol. Maybe can log case do in phases, got time then grab your screenies, send the logs.

disabled asus multicore enhancement, intel speedstep & cstates?

With Asus multicore enhancement, intel speedstep & cstate disabled:

Can boot into windows but bsod when under intelburn test stress test.

===============================

With Asus multicore enchancement disabled; intel speedster & cstate at auto:

Cannot boot into windows,
Bsod "System service exception" encountered.

===============================

With Asus multicore enchancement disabled; intel speedster & cstate enabled:

Cannot boot into windows,
Bsod "WHEA uncorrectable Error"

Seriously weekdays 9am - 5pm, really have to slowly call them. These time most people are working..

Sorry.. noob question, how to print screen save image when the system cannot boot into windows?

Or use phone camera take photo also ok?

Ps, also what sort of logs they will need?

thx for the results
asus mce disabled = intel stock speeds & turbo (not asus')

really odd that cpu degraded even at 1.30v in 6mths
at default asus bios settings, my auto vcore would go as high as 1.40v just starting browser (due to mce)

hope ur rma, u get a golden 6700k cpu in return :)

My thanks man.

Currently the system cannot boot up, with the boot device at solid red. Any idea what's the problem now? lol...

I would imagine, rapid degradation worse than you previously had. Not sure whats wrong with the chip though.

Damn.. could it possible the mobo also have problem?

Ssd and gpu can boot up on my older system. Rams last checked were ok.

Left psu, mobo and CPU. And last tested here CPU got problem.

Took out the Cmos battery, cr2032 battery and removed my single ssd. Tonight go home fix back try again.

Update,

Have re-installed cmos battery but still unable to boot into bios..

Tried resitting rams dim by dim slot by slot for both rams, same results.

Sometimes when I don't try to boot into bios, windows tries to boot but gets "bootmgr is corrupted cannot boot" or "trap 000061 exception" in dos..

Ssd and gpu works fine on my old pc.

Have you tried reinstalling Win 10 with only one SSD i.e. no HDD or other SSD attached?

Thank you for replying,

I only have 1 ssd, have not tried reinstalling win10 though.

The same sad can boot up Windows 10 when I connect it up with my system plus my current gpu. Just don't know when cannot connect to the net (with Ethernet cable) maybe old Mobo Ethernet spoil liao. i7 870, p7p55dle, 16gb kingston ram ddr3 1600mhz.

If you swap the SSD between two different systems, you are going to have problems.

If you have an old SSD or HDD lying around (or buy a cheap second-hand one), you can try doing a clean Win 10 installation on your newer rig. I suggest you rule out Win 10 first before trying to troubleshoot hardware.

Think I'll get a new cheap ssd to test out. Thanks man!

Ahh, I thought is connect back ssd than boot again. Will try to start after disconnecting the data cables and USB devices.

*mouse and keyboard also have to disconnect?

Thanks for helping!

imo at this point your CPU is almost definitely dead if the main voltage rails look normal in the bios (12v, 5v, 3.3v etc)

You might want to get the ball rolling in regard to CPU RMA. Nothing in the case will move on non-business days. So if it happens that the CPU is received at depot on a friday, the inspection will probably be next monday or tuesday fyi.

You can troubleshoot the rest of the parts at the same time too on some other machine. Board maybe can diagnose with distro. Otherwise your down time will be even more substantial.

Thanks for the heads up man.

I cannot access / boo up to bios to voltage rails at the moment. Have to try if disconnecting all sata and USB cables bales me to access bios.

My board was brought from Amazon, if really kaput I'll have to buy a new one here.

Update:

Tried starting up with all sata and USB devices plugged out, gpu plugged out. Using on board graphics,.cannot boot into bios.

Removed cmos battery for an hour, fit it back again. Switch on power again with sata and USB devices plugged out. Got prompted to press f1 to setup. Connected keyboard and pressed f1. Unable to boot into bios too.

=======================================

Probably need to give intel a call tomorrow.
May need to get a new mobo too?
