✨ A Prayer for Universal Peace
May our parents be well, happy, and peaceful.
May our relatives be well, happy, and peaceful.
May our friends be well, happy, and peaceful.
May all indifferent persons be well, happy, and peaceful.
May any unfriendly persons be well, happy, and peaceful.
May all beings in this area be well, happy, and peaceful.
May all beings in our city be well, happy, and peaceful.
May all beings in our state be well, happy, and peaceful.
May all beings in our country be well, happy, and peaceful.
May all beings in the Universe be well, happy, and peaceful.
May the suffering ones be suffering-free.
May the fearful be free from fear.
May the grieving shed all grief.

May you and all beings be well, happy, and at peace.

Sigh. This prayer is so beautiful, yet I find it incomplete. It should start with "May I be well, happy and peaceful."

It's not wrong to pray for world peace, but Buddhists are often like a lighthouse, shining light in pitch darkness to illuminate the path of others. Yet, it is always darkest at the foot of the lighthouse. May Buddhists learn to cherish themselves before they spread metta to others!

It's like taking an aeroplane, the safety message insists that one should put on their own safety masks and jackets properly first before they go around helping others. It doesn't matter whether are we travelling with children, elderly or complete strangers. Start by taking care of ourselves first, then extend helping hands to others in need.

Nothing wrong here, just a reminder to myself because I always forget my own needs when looking after the needs of others, it's important to extend love to oneself in this lonely world, otherwise our prayers as well meaning as they are, are going to tire ourselves out in the end. Spare a thought for oneself, and may you travel a longer journey in this way.

世事無常,人間是一個紅塵之地,不是永久之地,沒有一樣東西可以長久。

任何人只要迷戀人間,都會吃苦。菩薩天天讓我們出離,就是讓我們不要去迷戀,但我們人在這個世界上,就是在不停地迷戀。

想一想,哪個人出事不是因為迷戀人間的某一種事物、某一個感情,或某一個面子?

最不容易做到的就是要理解它、改變它。很多人理解這個世界是紅塵,知道這是無常世界,但是不肯改;還有人改了又反復。

改點毛病不容易,但是既然要修,就好好地改,必須改,馬上改,沒有說以後再改的,現在不改好就沒有機會了。

世上無難事,只怕有心人。只要努力,一定能成功。

明因識果的人(懂因果),在生活中工作中,在於人相處中,心中有杆因果的秤,
一定是謹慎謙虛有禮的人,一定是正直善良願意幫助他人的仁者。
因為起心動念行為皆有因果的觀念在,
為什麼現在世界這麼亂,因為缺乏因果的教育。

However, if one does not aspire for the Land of Ultimate Bliss and does not believe that verbally reciting Amitabha Buddha’s Name can lead to rebirth in the Land of Ultimate Bliss, then the obstacle arises on one’s own side.

The river is not the problem.
Your resistance to its flow is.
When expectation drops, reality reveals itself as it is — silent, whole, complete.
That clarity is freedom.
This is not philosophy.

.....Our practice of Dhamma should be getting us beyond suffering; if we can’t fully transcend suffering, then we should at least be able to transcend it a little, now, in the present. For example, when someone speaks harshly to us, if we don’t get angry with them we have transcended suffering. If we get angry, we have not transcended dukkha.

When someone speaks harshly to us, if we reflect on Dhamma, we will see it is just heaps of earth. Okay, he is criticizing me – he’s just criticizing a heap of earth. One heap of earth is criticizing another heap of earth. Water is criticizing water. Wind is criticizing wind. Fire is criticizing fire.

“….. Living in this world is extremely difficult,
because this world is filled with all kinds of suffering, faults, enmities, dangers, and countless troubles.
If we rely solely on material possessions, wealth, money, power, status, or worldly careers and positions,
we will not be able to escape from the fruits of karma and the suffering of the heart.
We must also have the **power of merit** and **goodness** supporting us.
When we have the power of merit helping and protecting us from behind,
no matter what we do or in whichever aspect of life we proceed,
everything becomes smooth, easy, and naturally unobstructed.
But if there is no merit supporting and sustaining us,
when life brings us difficulties and hardships,
it is like facing all the incoming suffering alone,
making the problems even harder to overcome.
For people who have merit:
Heavy matters become light,
Bad things can transform into good things,
and everything flows with ease and comfort —

all due to **the power of the wholesome kamma and merit** they have previously created.

“Suppose that an archer or archer’s apprentice were to practice on a straw man or mound of clay, so that after a while he would become able to shoot long distances, to fire accurate shots in rapid succession, and to pierce great masses. In the same way, there is the case where a monk… enters and remains in the first jhāna: rapture & pleasure born of seclusion, accompanied by directed thought & evaluation. He regards whatever phenomena there that are connected with form, feeling, perception, fabrications, & consciousness, as inconstant, stressful, a disease, a cancer, an arrow, painful, an affliction, alien, a disintegration, an emptiness, not-self. He turns his mind away from those phenomena, and having done so, inclines his mind to the property of deathlessness: ‘This is peace, this is exquisite—the pacification of all fabrications; the relinquishing of all acquisitions; the ending of craving; dispassion; cessation; unbinding.’

“Staying right there, he reaches the ending of effluents. Or, if not, then—through this very Dhamma-passion, this Dhamma-delight, and from the total wasting away of the five lower fetters [self-identity views, uncertainty, grasping at habits & practices, sensual passion, and irritation]—he is due to arise spontaneously [in the Pure Abodes], there to be totally unbound, never again to return from that world. [Similarly with the remaining jhānas and the formless attainments up through the dimension of nothingness.]” — AN 9:36

宣公上人: 你有什麼災難,常念「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」,你的災難就解除——大的災難,就會變成小的災難;小的災難,也能變成沒有災難。所以是消災法。「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」,又是個增益法。增益法,就是你本來已經有善根了,你念這個咒,你的善根又增加了,得到的益處更多了,所以就叫做增益法。“Namo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye” is also a Dharma of enhancement (increasing benefits). What does that mean? It means that if you already possess good roots, chanting this phrase will increase them, granting you even more benefits. Therefore, it is called a Dharma of enhancement. Reciting this phrase can also help avert misfortunes. Whatever calamities you may be facing, by frequently reciting “Na Mo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye,” your troubles will be alleviated or removed. Large catastrophes will be reduced to minor difficulties; minor difficulties will disappear entirely. In this way, it is a Dharma which quells calamities.
你能念大悲咒,就單單念「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」這一句,不要說多,無論你想什麼,希望什麼,你所求如意,所願遂心;這就是成就法,你求什麼都會成功的。譬如沒有兒子的,想求兒子,那你念「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」,就會得兒子了。沒有朋友的,你想找一個好朋友,那你就念「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」,也會得到好朋友。但你要誠心,不是唸一天、二天的;最低限度,你要先唸三年。懂嗎?你若能全唸更好,不能全唸,就唸「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」這一句,也是成就不可思議的功德。
If you can recite just this single line of the Great Compassion Mantra, “Namo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye,” without reciting any other lines, no matter your wishes or aspirations, they will be fulfilled. This is known as the Dharma of accomplishment, meaning that whatever you seek, you will achieve. For example, if you have no son but wish for one, by reciting “Na Mo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye,” you will obtain a son. If you have no friends and want a good friend, by reciting this phrase, you will also gain a good friend. But, you must be sincere—it’s not enough to recite for only one or two days. At a minimum, you should recite for three years. Understand? If you can recite the entire mantra, that’s even better. If not, just reciting “Na Mo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye” can still enable you to accomplish inconceivable merit and virtue.
好像在北方,有一種外道叫理門;這個理門,不念旁的,就是念這一句。最高的領袖,坐在那地方受人的禮拜,人人都向他叩頭頂禮;他的心裏就專念什麼呢?就念「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」這一句,這就是理門的靈應法。有人像他裝模作樣的,坐在那法座上;正中間的叫「領正」,旁邊的叫「幫正」,三個人坐在那個地方,就像放燄口似的。啊!這個就是理門。
For example, in Northern China, there is an external path called Zailiism. The followers of Zailiism do not recite anything else but this single phrase. The highest leader sits there accepting bows from others—everyone prostrates before him. What does he recite in his mind? Just this phrase: “Na Mo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye.” This is the Dharma of efficacious response in Zailiism. Beside the supreme leader, there are others who also imitate this style of mystique. They sit on a Dharma seat, with three people in total: the one in the center is called the ‘Chair Mentor,’ and those on either side are called ‘Assistant-Mentor,’ resembling a Flaming Mouth Ceremony (referring to the Water Land Air Ceremony). This is what Zailiism looks like.
若有人去「在理」,他傳什麼呢?就傳一個密法。他這個密法,叫你伸出手來,就這麼樣「觀、世、音、菩、薩」幾個字;在理完了,這就算是篆上了。篆上了以後,就不要出口念;要念,在心裏念:「觀世音菩薩,觀世音菩薩」,不出口。這個法,「父子不過,妻子不傳」──父親和兒子也不能說的,就夫婦也不能講的。得到這五個字了,就叫「五字真言」。
If someone comes to ‘zaili — accord with Principle (lǐ 理),’ what do they transmit? An esoteric Dharma. First, they would ask you to reach out your hands, and they would write the characters ‘Guān 觀, Shì 世, Yīn 音, Pú 菩, Sà 薩 (Guanyin Bodhisattva)’ onto them. Once the initiation is done, this is considered as having had the ‘seal’ placed on you. After receiving this ‘sealed’ Dharma, you must not recite it aloud. If you do recite, you do so silently, in your heart: “Guanshiyin Pusa, Guanshiyin Pusa,” without voicing the words. This method is so secret that ‘it is prohibited to pass between father and son, nor between wife and husband’—even discussion between a father and a son, or a husband and a wife is not allowed. Once you have these five characters, you are considered having received the ‘Five Character True Words.’
然後就再告訴你,在理不這麼念,要「閉口藏舌」,把口閉上,舌頭藏起來;「舌尖頂上顎」。「氣托心念」,在心裏念;「意根法現」。這講得好妙、好神秘的。在北方有一個「戒煙酒會」,是怎樣呢?主要是不喝酒、不抽煙,就叫「在理公所」。在中國近一百多年以來,公所是很盛行的道;他所仗的是什麼呢?就是這一句。做法師的,坐在正座的座裏,就念「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」。因為在以前,這些門徑我都走過,所以我都知道。
They further instruct you that, within Zailiism, you must recite like this: ‘close your mouth and curl your tongue until the tip touches the palate; use your qi energy to boost your mindfulness; the Dharma will manifest within the mind faculty.’ They make it sound so wondrous and mysterious. In Northern China, there is also a Quit Smoking and Drinking Association that helped people cut off addiction to alcohol and tobacco. This group is referred to as the Zaili Lodge. Over the past hundred years in China, these lodges were quite widespread. What did they rely on? It’s precisely this single phrase from the Great Compassion Mantra. The ritual masters, sitting in the main seat, recite “Na Mo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye.” Since I explored all these different paths in the past, I know them well.
這一句也就是「降伏法」,能降伏天魔,制諸外道。一切的天魔外道,聽見這一句咒,都亡命而逃。但是它可不是「鉤召法」;鉤召法,就是一念這個咒,就把妖魔鬼怪捉來。所以「南無喝囉怛那哆囉夜耶」這一句咒,就有不可思議的功能;要是往多來講,那是無窮無盡的。什麼叫無盡呢?過去諸佛沒有窮盡,現在諸佛沒有窮盡,未來的諸佛也沒有窮盡;這叫無盡無盡的三寶。
This phrase is also a Dharma of subduing, capable of vanquishing celestial demons and restraining adherents of external paths. All celestial demons and adherents of external paths, upon hearing this phrase, flee for their lives. However, it is not a Dharma of hooking and summoning, which would involve reciting a mantra to forcibly seize or capture demons, ghosts, or any other evil spirits. In short, “Na Mo He La Da Nuo Duo La Ye Ye” possesses inconceivable abilities, and if we were to explain it in full detail, its merit and functions would be infinite.What does ‘infinite’ mean? It means there is no end to the Buddhas of the past, no end to the Buddhas of the present, and no end to the Buddhas of the future. This is what is meant by the infinitely vast Three Jewels.

✍️ Coming Home to Peace - Our suffering mostly comes from our wandering minds. With our chasing thoughts, we get lost elsewhere—in the past we cannot change, in the future we cannot control—drifting so far from the peace of this present moment.

And we ache. We feel lost. We wonder why peace seems so hard to find.

But dear hearts, this here and now, this present moment, is our home. It is our treasure of peace that has been with us all along, quietly waiting with infinite patience, never leaving us even when we wander far away.

We thought we had to chase peace somewhere else, so we kept running to find it. We searched in accomplishments, in possessions, in destinations we believed would finally bring us rest. We exhausted ourselves looking everywhere except the one place it has always lived—right here, in this very moment.

Just relax. Just pause for a gentle moment. We can stop running now.

Peace is right here. It has always been right here, waiting for us like a warm home with the door open. We can come back to it simply by returning to our breath—breathing in, breathing out, feeling the gentle rhythm that has been quietly holding us this whole time.

We can find it in the mindfulness of our daily actions—washing dishes with presence, walking with awareness, speaking with care. In these simple moments, peace whispers: “I never left. I’ve been here all along, waiting for you to come home.”

Peace and stopping the chase does not mean we don’t grow our lives. When we are at peace and flow with the real life right here and now, struggle shifts. We flow with clarity in whatever wholesome plans we have. Growth continues, but without the exhausting chase. Goals unfold, but without the anxious grasping. Life moves forward, but now rooted in peace rather than driven by restlessness.

We don’t need to chase anymore. We don’t need to search in distant places for what lives so close. This present moment is home. Peace is here, patiently, lovingly waiting for our wandering minds to finally come back and rest.

May you and all beings be well, happy, and at peace. 🙏✨

別主動去抓別人的心,別用對方怎麼想我來定義自己,別把心力花在控制別人的反應!

你只需要問自己三件事:1. 我有沒有守住正念?2. 我有沒有做我該做的本分?3. 我有沒有起貪瞋癡慢疑及不善之念?

只要這三個穩住了,外在人心怎麼變,都只是「境界」。

【這些現像是幫你消業障,甚至把先世罪業都消除】


福報代表這一生當中的經濟環境,有福報的人做任何事都很順利;沒有福德,做任何事都會遇到困境,經常是一籌莫展,所以福報的薰修很重要。

中國有句俗話,「大樹底下好遮蔭」。 一棵樹枝葉茂密,樹蔭愈大,就愈能容納許多人在樹下乘涼遮蔭;相對的,如果大樹沒有了,眾人也就失去了庇護。

就家庭而言,家長沒有福報,家庭就很苦,小孩要念書、做任何事都很艱難。

公司也是一樣,公司的負責人沒有福德因緣,這個公司很難發展,員工也很苦。

相反的,如果負責人有福,就能庇蔭眾多的員工;福報大,所庇蔭的人就更多。

中國人常說,福祿壽三星高照。 祿是官位、爵位、職位,有官位的就稱為有祿位,執事便是一種祿位。

福是生活的經濟能力,生活所享用的種種都是福報。 壽,壽命要長遠,身體要健康,這就屬於壽。 福祿壽齊全,能有這三樣就很歡喜了。

現代的人覺得福祿壽還不夠,還要加一個喜,要多生貴子才是喜,都是在歡喜當中也是喜,能雙喜臨門就更喜。

而這些都要靠我們平常努力,因為這是一種果報。 人人都歡喜這種果報,可是多數人只知道在果上去祈求,而不知道在因當中去努力。

修善要在平時,例如對父母盡孝,對師長恭敬,對國家盡忠,忠於事、忠於人,時時刻刻以慈悲心、平等心來做人做事,這就是大的福報。

夫妻之間互相容忍,也是福德,修善就是在日常生活中去修。 有錢行善,是很大的人間福報,沒有錢,就用我們的勞力、智慧付出;別人做了善事,要給予讚嘆,不嫉妒、不慳貪,如此也有很大的福德。  

人的福報非常重要,有福報的人不會短命,也不會遭難。 如報紙上曾刊登,在一次大型空難前,有一個人本要搭乘這班飛機,但是他的名字排不上去,這個人再去爭取坐這班飛機,結果航空公司安排他坐另外的小飛機到目的地,當時這個人心裡覺得不舒服,但只能無奈接受。  

不久後傳出空難的消息,他才知道自己很幸運,沒有搭上這班死亡的飛機。 一般人會認為這是巧合,其實在佛法來講,這個世界上的點點滴滴、所有一切,都在因緣果報中,依此道理慢慢去觀察,會發現任何事情都是如此。   

譬如說佛有三十二相,佛陀的相好,是過去修善積福成就的果報;一般人只要有其中一相,福德因緣一定非常俱足。 佛的鼻相莊嚴,鼻高且直,有許多人為了讓自己的鼻子高挺,去開刀動手術、去隆鼻,雖然也鼻相莊嚴,可是那是人為的,不是修善修出來的。

也有人喜歡割雙眼皮、整容,用種種人為的方法改變外觀,但因為不是自然福德成就的,就有許多副作用。  

一般人重視相貌,只圖表面好看;仔細觀察,有些人相貌很好,這一生卻不一定有福報,煩惱也很多,這是因為心中沒有善法,平時未能廣修福慧;即使相貌美好,也沒有福報可以享用。 所以,人生必須修善才能改變命運。

佛法裡面講三世怨,第一世修福,第二世享福,第三世墮落,這是我們一定要覺悟的。

尤其現在這時代,天災人禍天天都有,所以我們對於佛法的修學,一定要勇猛精進——斷惡要快,修善要積極,刻不容緩!

人能知善,但知不一定去做,知與行之間可以統一,也可以分裂,只有能知善又能行善,才算真正有德。

所以,積功累德,是一個不斷實踐的過程。 修德,主要靠實踐。 透過實踐前面提到的各種行善的準則,逐步體悟其中的真諦,慢慢積累,成為道德高尚的人。  

這裡有個善報的故事:清朝崇明地方,有位叫黃永爵的人,有位相士曾替他算命,說他只能活到六十歲;

後來南洋有一艘船遇到了大風,船翻了,黃永爵就急忙地拿出十兩黃金,坐漁船前往搭救,總共救活十三條的人命。  

後來又遇到那位相士,這時相士看到黃永爵,非常驚訝地說:“黃先生,你滿臉的陰駭紋,一定是積了大德,做了大好事,你不但會有兒子,而且你的兒子還會考上功名,你也會活到高壽啊!”

後來黃永爵果然生了一個兒子,叫黃振鳳,考中了康熙己末年會試的榜首,黃永爵也活到九十幾歲,而且得到善終。 由此可知,天道如此真實可信,人為什麼不肯去惡為善呢?

人生除了修福,還要修智慧。 有福報、有財富,如果不知妥善運用,花天酒地、吃喝玩樂,造作惡業,雖然有錢反而容易招致墮落。 社會上有些寵物,主人每天抱著它,替它打扮、送它到美容院,生活得比一般人還優越。  

但是,終究還是畜生道的眾生,雖然前世修福報,卻沒有智慧辨別是非,因此造作惡業而墮落。 所以,修福還要修慧,有智慧才能妥善運用福報,增長福德、避免墮落。

心中有貪心、瞋心、癡心的煩惱就是塵垢,因為貪財、貪色、貪吃、貪睡、貪名,使這念心蒙塵,本具的智慧便無法彰顯。

不貪,並非什麼都不要,而是取用本分該得的,譬如每月的薪水是辛勤努力所得,屬於份內之財,便不是貪。

相反的,巧取豪奪份外之財就是貪,這種錢即使得到了,將來也會從其它地方失去。

因果通三世,過去因,現在果;現在因,未來果。 想要富貴、功名利祿,一定要從因上去努力;因,沒有別的,就是惜福、修福。

人必須要有福報,有福德的人,賺來的錢什麼人也偷不走。 沒有福德,即使很會賺錢,什麼都保不住。 人的福德不同,看到外面的境界也不一樣。

古德也講:「運去金成鐵,時來鐵似金。」時節因緣具足,做什麼事情都是一帆風順;時節因緣過去了,做任何事情都不順利。 因此,平時要廣修福德與智慧,福慧具足,做任何事都容易成就。

我們這一生在世間,要把生死大事看作第一樁大事,什麼事情耽誤無所謂,生死大事這事情延緩不得,這一生你要不趕快去做,來世你還在六道輪迴,那就糟了,這一輪就退轉了。

成功掌握在自己手中,失敗也掌握在自己手中。 佛法中提到,成菩薩、成魔是自己;生淨土、到地獄也是自己,都是我們這念心使然。

體悟到這念心,時時安住在正念、善念中,就是一條光明的道路,依此而行,人生會愈來愈有福報與智慧,身體也會愈來愈健康。

所謂“水能載舟,亦能覆舟”,水是指我們這念心。 在這個社會中,人與人之間相互依存,是彼此依靠的關係;藉互助合作來達到富貴、成就因緣,所以彼此要知恩、感恩、報恩。

現代有些人觀念錯誤,為了追求功利,人與人之間互相利用、打擊、自私自利,彼此障礙阻擾,因此引發許多糾紛、危難,這就是水能覆舟。

我們把觀念建立在互相依賴、互相幫助,成就彼此的事業、功德,這就是水能載舟。 有了正確的觀念,人生就會充滿希望,愈走愈光明,到那裡都能吉祥平安。

如果學佛不能運用在生活當中,那學佛就沒有什麼意義了。 「道」就在你心中,就在日常運用中。 仁者,請善自體會!

世事無常,人生苦短,所以我們對於修學,一定要勇猛精進,斷惡要快,修善要積極,刻不容緩! 我們要把握每一分的時光,要去做生死、出三界的大事。

尤其在這個人心險惡、災難多、人心不安的時代,一定要認真努力修行,念佛求生,不能等待將來,不能等待明天,一分都不能等,刻不容緩!

福報,不是天生的恩賜,而是累世修來的果報。
修福如耕田,修慧如除草;福慧雙修,方能花開結果。
人生所有的順與逆、得與失,皆非偶然,而是「因果使然」。
有人一生風順,是宿植善因;有人步步艱難,則是宿業未消。
但命運並非鐵板一塊——懂得懺悔、行善、持戒、積德,就能轉禍為福、由暗入明。

一個家庭的興衰,也與家長的福德息息相關。
父母修得多,子女得庇蔭;領導有德,員工得安樂。
這正印證古語:「一家修善,百福自臨;一人造惡,萬禍齊生。」

修福不離生活點滴,
孝順父母是一種福,忍讓配偶是一種福,
幫助他人是一種福,讚歎善行更是一種福。
修行不在遠方,而在每一個念頭、每一個舉止。

當一個人懂得「惜福」,他的人生就開始富有;
當一個人懂得「修福」,他的命運就開始轉變。
世間的財富名利,不過是短暫的煙雲;
唯有福德與智慧,才能陪伴我們跨越生死。

有智慧的人,不爭於表相,不困於得失;
他知道「失去的,不一定是壞事;得來的,未必是福報」。
真正的福,是心安理得、行有光明;
真正的慧,是明辨因果、知止知足。

願眾生都能明白——
福報要修,業障要消,
心要淨,念要正。
如此,人生方得自在安寧,
命運亦能由苦轉樂、由暗轉明。

🌟星雲大師:念佛與作福

作福不念佛,福盡還沉淪;
念佛不作福,入道多辛苦。
無福不念佛,地獄鬼畜群;
念佛兼作福,後證兩足尊。
──明‧雲棲袾宏

在修行的過程中,是念佛好,還是作福好呢?明代袾宏大師(又名蓮池大師)的〈勸修念佛作福四料簡〉為我們提供了很寶貴的觀念。

有的人重視念佛,不重視功德福報;也有的人重視善事救濟,不重視念佛參禪,這些都有所偏頗。這首偈語告訴我們,假使你只是修福卻不念佛,將來福報享盡了,等於存款用完了,還是會沉淪惡道。

如果你念佛卻不修福,天天只念「阿彌陀佛,阿彌陀佛……」縱然能得到身心的清淨解脫,甚至開悟入道了,缺少福德因緣,要再發心度眾還是會很辛苦。所以《阿彌陀經》說:「不可以少善根福德因緣得生彼國。」念佛是正行,作福是助行,要想圓滿修行,還是要發心培養很多的福德因緣,普利社會群眾,救濟人間,廣結善緣,做種種的功德善事。

「無福不念佛,地獄鬼畜群」,你不修福,對國家社會人群沒有絲毫的利益和貢獻,說到布施、造橋、修路,一點都不發心,拔一毛以利天下都不肯有所為,像這樣無福又不念佛,必然會墮到地獄、餓鬼、畜生等惡道。

「念佛兼作福,後證兩足尊」,你念佛,也修功德福報,將來必定會證悟到「兩足尊」。兩足尊是讚美佛的萬德莊嚴,佛的福德、智慧兩項具足,是人中最為尊貴。所以修行佛道之人要福慧雙修,也要逐漸圓滿福慧雙全。你念佛作福,就可以漸次完成人道,人成即佛成,將來必定可以成就佛道。

這首偈頌對一個偏於一邊修行的人,倒是給了一個很中肯的規勸。

真正學佛人,尤其是懂得佛法的人,千萬不能在人間悶悶不樂過一天,如果你今天從早上到晚上,一直悶悶不樂,你一天的智慧全部跑光,因為智慧和你的煩惱不會同時存在。

煩惱多,就是沒有智慧,有智慧的人,就是沒有煩惱。

所以,當你一天悶悶不樂,帶著滿臉的惆悵、煩惱的時候,實際上你就迷失了你這一天所應該得到的智慧。

【善知識,凡夫即佛,煩惱即菩提。前念迷,即凡夫;後念悟,即佛。前念著境,即煩惱;後念離境,即菩提。 】

善知識,凡夫即是佛,煩惱即是菩提。前一念迷惑,就是凡夫;後一念悟,即是佛。前一念著境即煩惱,後念離境即菩提。

「煩惱即菩提。」對!沒有錯!這一句話是正確的,意思就是說,凡夫的這個裡面無量無邊的煩惱,當你悟道的時候,就是菩提。

可是啊如果說:菩提即煩惱,這是不對,不對!這句話就是變成說,佛的話煩惱就無量無邊,就變成眾生了。

可以講煩惱即菩提,但是不能講菩提既煩惱,講菩提既煩惱要是什麼?要在聖者的角度。

像釋迦牟尼佛啊,這個煩惱眾生不修行,菩薩煩惱眾生不修行、憐憫眾生不修行,我們可以講:菩提既煩惱,就是開悟的聖者、覺悟的聖者,他煩惱這些眾生不修行,菩提既煩惱,就是這個樣子。

前面迷既凡夫,我現在講的,以前的迷的,你這一念嶄斷,不貪、不瞠、不癡,尊重人家,當下具足無量智慧,後念悟既佛,這一念就是後念。

前念迷既是凡夫,意思就是前念,以前的種種錯誤、迷惑,都沒有關係,嶄斷!後念悟既佛,你當下這一念放得下,你現在就是佛,這個太厲害了,這個實在是太厲害 ! 所以說六祖啊真是,那一天到大陸去跟他老人家磕頭一下,作這一本書實在太了不起了!

「前念著境,即煩惱。後念離境,即菩提。」 哇!你看多漂亮,這句話多漂亮!前面這一念,著境,執著這個境界既煩惱,前念著境即煩惱,後念離境即菩提,離境,離境就是心不動念,離開這個境界的執著,離境既是菩提,你看!太棒了!
