Need a new rig that can run Dota 2 on Max smoothly, need everything except mouse, speaker. Prefer Intel and Nvidia, Asus for mb. Possible to get it within sub 1k?
Igpu is not bad one. Can play basic games like dota/cs. Worst case cannot Max settings only.I recently bought a new rig, and my mobo has Intel HD 530 iGPU. I installed DOTA 2, set everything to max details, 2560x1440 @ 60hz, started 5v5 bot match.
Imagine my surprise the gameplay is smooth.
Let's say I can up Budget to 1.2k - 1.4k?
Possible to push it to the above specs? If so how much to add on?![]()

If go for i5 Haswell? The build looks good but need to fix it myself or can I get it done somewhere?
For the same motherboard (asrock h81m-hds), i5 4460 is another $95 on PC Themes pricelist. Since the components are purchased from different sources, best is you can fix it yourself at home. Not that difficult, just need a screwdriver and read the motherboard manual.
If really no confidence to DIY, then bring everything to SLS. When you buy your motherboard and CPU from the shop, ask them to fix for you for a fee.

I don't mind build it myself, do I need to purchase thermal paste and all those data cables? Or is it included inside?
Why do you need 2 monitrs? Odd numbered monitors are preferred if you intend to span your gaming view throughout all monitors. Definitely not a good idea to have your crosshair halfway across your dual monitors.I don't mind build it myself, do I need to purchase thermal paste and all those data cables? Possible to get 2 of the Samsung Monitor that moneyface suggested and make it into dual monitor setups?
If all you are going toplay is just Dota 2, Core i3 is already very well great (and still overkill). A ture quad core Core i5 is more prudent if you intend to play a variety of games that utilise different game engines that are threaded differently.
Building it yourself is definitely a welcoming start. Thermal paste has already been preapplied on the stock cooler bundled with CPU. Most motherboard brands supply only 2 SATA cables in box, which i feel just ideal for most users where you need just 1 for SSD and 1 for HDD. If you really need extra, you can just hoot from shop for $1-$2 per piece.
