What happen if the ram is 3600 is placed, can it work aka get reduced speed ?
Yes you may. All ddr4 ram will work on any b350 b450 x370 x470 boards. By right all default bios will run all rams at 2133mhz when you first insert it.
So how it works is. You buy a 3600mhz rated ram. You plug it into a new motherboard. Straight away when you turn it on. The rams will run at 2133mhz. You have 2 choices.
1 is to turn on xmp, if your bios allows it. What xmp is that its a profile that is set by the "maker" of the rams, clock speed, voltage that allows it to run at the rated speed. Its important that if you want to purely use xmp profile, you have to search for ryzen rated ram. This is because xmp is generally tested on intel boards.
here are some examples of ryzen ram. I loosely use the term ryzen ram because the "makers" have already tested these rams on ryzen boards and know that those settings will work.
2. is to manually overclock ram, rams although rated to run at a certain speed sometimes can be overclocked. that being said. Sometimes the xmp profile may not be stable on your board, reason being maybe you bought a non ryzen tested ram and the xmp profile just does not work. Or you are just unlucky and you got bad ram. Usually 2666mhz is the safe speed. Because all 2666mhz and above ram regardless of what board you are using intel or ryzen. It will be able to run at 2666mhz MINIMUM no problem. anything above that you will have to test the stability of the ram yourself.
The basic idea of overclocking ram is similar to overclocking a processor. You first increase the speed. Test for stability, then increase again. Until you get a unstable speed. Increase the voltage. Test again. Rinse and repeat. I recommend that you do a little research before you overclock your ram, and try to never go above 1.35v for ram voltage.
