Hi All,

I have never assembled a computer on my own and would like to do so this time round.
I have the following specs below but would like some comments on the reliability of the components as well as the build performance. I'm a little low on budget so please bear with me.

CPU + Motherboard: MSI B150M Bazooka Plus
RAM: Kingston 2133MHz CL15 8GB
Hard Disk: Toshiba 2TB
Power Supply: Seasonic 520W
Casing: C.M N200 Window Micro Case
Graphic Card: Zotac 750i

Also could you all please comment on the types of games I can play with this build and if there are any better recommendations?
I only have a budget of around 900 :(

Please help me!!

Thanks and Regards,
Wei Chong

Regret to say that this is only as good as what Acer Predator can offers you...

BUDGET: How much are you going to spend on this PC?
PURPOSE: What specifically are you doing with this PC?

Any preference for colour scheme? E.g. Black with White/Red/Blue/Green/Gold/etc…
Need any of these within the budget?

Windows
Monitor
Speaker
Keyboard
Mouse
WiFi adapter

Placing PC on table or floor?
Any physical dimension constraint at your PC holding area?

Will your monitor screen position be facing any bright light source like window?

Which internet provider plan and router are you using?
Is your home in a relatively new apartment built in the past 8 years?
Has HDB/developer install LAN points in all rooms?

How far is your upcoming PC located from the router?
Any obstruction between your PC and router?

Intend to play any of the listed games most of your gaming time?

Rise of the Tomb Raider
Ashes of the Singularity
Quantum Break
Total War: Warhammer
Hitman
Doom

Hi MonkeyFace,

Thanks for your prompt reply.
- I am thinking of spending about $900 on the computer.
- It would most likely be used for light gaming to which ever games the specs allow
me to play!!
- I don't have any preferred color scheme, I prefer functionality than appearance.
- I don't need any of those listed within the budget.
- It will be placed on the floor so I don't have any space constraint
- I would most probably be using my 32" TV as my monitor which is beside a window as
well as a 17" monitor beside it.

If the specs my the computer allows me to play any of the listed games, I won't mind.

The build that luibin suggested would generally be pretty reliable, hardware is heng suay and sometimes even the so called best components can be DOA

GTX 750 Ti can only let you play MOBA games smoothly with respectable PQ quality.

This is where GTX 750 Ti stands against GTX 1060.

GTX 1060 is 98-99% of GTX 980 FYI...

That build is a detailed recommendation with a nice balance of hardware choices. It places more emphasis on hardware that has a larger impact on performance, while scrimping on areas like the motherboard, case and PSU which may limit expansion and upgradeability. (i.e. less ports, PCIe slots etc)

Long story short: That's about the best you can get out of the given budget. But if you ask me, I personally view Wi-Fi as an essential piece of hardware. Phones use Wifi, tablets use Wifi, PCs can too. Wi-Fi connection stability can be about as good as a cabled connection; if you have a decent router that's set up properly. I find the ping increase over a wired connection is a mere 0-2ms on a mediocre router with all the optional stuff like NAT, SPI Firewall etc such turned off, prioritising (depending on user) media streaming etc. Sure, it'll be trading maximum bandwidth throughput for flexibility though.

The last part is a "just saying only". Cheers.

Most people don't overclock CPU and just need 1 GPU, 1 SSD and 1 HDD. Hence, H81 motherboard is the best choice for most of them... :s12:

And the vacant PCIe X1 slot there can be used to install WiFi card.

FYI this chassis can support a 240mm radiator AIO WC and a 31.5cm full length graphics card!

Cheapest B150M+ i5-6400/6500 list prices are around $400-420. Not sure about H110M. But they shouldn't be far apart. TS doesn't have a big budget either.

It is almost like spending $70-90 to buy an Intel HD 530 since Skylake is mostly a sidegrade and focuses on peripheral support enhancements.

if ts has tight budget constrain, best to get mb socket 1150 + i5 4460 for more savings. it's also better for ts to follow moneyface build suggestions, at least he is able get new gen gpu zotac 1060 mini version with good fps on 1080p monitor within his budget.

I see the point.
I saw that TS mention using 32" TV as main monitor. What is the native resolution of the TV? is it full hd 1080p? Because most of 32" only HD ready (ie: 1366x768)

do not save on psu. it's the most important component. I already encountered twice on cheap branded psu which got exploded after few years of usage. maybe im unlucky? anyway, u can get superflower 550w 80+ silver @ 96 with NEWSINGLAZ code 15% off for new customer @ lazada.

Many cheap PSUs use inferior components that run at out of range current, voltage and ripples. My FSP Hexa+ 450W is a decent quality PSU.

Been using for 2 years now...

SF Leadex Silver was as low as $92 before discount code...

FSP Aurum S 550W is a much better buy at $94 now...

I am thinking of using it for around 2 to 3 years, after which upgrading it if possible. Unlikely that i will sell it away..
