Building a gaming rig

my budget around $500-$700
want to use for gaming, hoping to play games in highest settings without lag,some photo editing,surfing web
no need monitor,os just cpu alone
if possible i dont mind buying 2nd hand stuff and installing it to the pc to save more money.
any recommendations?

which games you plan to play? the Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light be very hard to max out for your budget even if going with 2nd hand parts.

For your budget if everything new can go for AMD rig as the new APU has a good discrete gfx in it.

im looking for a performance equivalent to the laptop gfx gtx680m .. how much more budget can i put in to get a good performance gaming pc? and any parts i can get 2nd hand?

With your budget, it's almost impossible to play games in highest settings unless maybe you talking about Dota..

With that budget, you will struggle at low settings in Crysis.. So what games u playing?

You are asking something very hard to build if your budget asking for $500-$700 and want everything max. What i gave you amd rig you are able to handle games from medium to high. Anything above high like very high, ultra etc you may be struggling with frames per second.

That will also depend on what games you playing.

i meant that games most importantly is the gfx right? the processor can just get a i3 but i know for sure gfx must be good

Depends on the game; some are CPU-intensive, others more GPU-intensive. (Although as I understand it, an i3 will bottleneck the GPU in quite a few games now.) But in any case, you simply can't get a very good card capable of maxing current-gen games at your budget. You'd need something like a GTX 770 or HD 7970, which would single-handedly use up most of--or even all of, depending on brand, whether new or used, etc.--your budget for your entire PC.

Gotta be more realistic. What games do you intend to play? And do you *really* need to max them?

For desktop honestly with whatever games you are just buying off the shelf. Your budget minimum you will need almost $1k.

A least GTX 760 for fairly mid to high settings on most games.. that will set u back around $400+ already..

Dunno if sales still on for GTX 660 TI at $200+ though.. It will be a steal for u..

I think you should get a 760. Confirm can run next-gen games like BF4 at smooth and nice graphics. Not max, because max doesn't mean good.

I still remember how Planetside 2 and its ambient lightning &^%$ the game so bad.
