So please think hard on your choice whether to stick with red or green camp. It's like an ecosystem for a minimum of 2 years.

speaking of pipe dream. how come acer didnt release a Freesync version of the XB271HU. They have the XG270HU but no XG271HU.

I mean yes, Asus has the MG model but bleah. I won't use ASUS monitors till they give me zero Bezel.

All Singaporeans are like this lol esp dunno much of pc but expect to get super good with cheap price :s13:

But too bad not all good technology reduce price/ depreciate so fast unless that tech is at least 2 or 3 gens from the current gens or the company is releasing new stuff fast. :o

Strictly speaking the red camp is cheaper.

But in terms of tech and choices, the green camp always seems to get the good stuff first. You have choices for 144Hz Gsync ULMB TN/IPS but hardly that number of choices at the Freesync end.

What freesync does get however are the more "casual" monitors where it appears as a bonus. You often it on the unlikeliest of models like the LG 34" ones or the Benq 32" ones and even then Freesync isn't even the main selling point.

So yea, something you should factor in when you consider which cards to get as well.

The fastest drop in price is when the tech becomes obsolete. but being cheap, its not just a singaporeans thing.

I dare say alot of singaporeans know quite abit about tech but are very budget conscious which makes them appear very calculative/bargin hunters/value seekers/niao as **** etc. You name it.

They have just released the XF270HU stateside. Not sure whether is it coming to SG.

It has IPS 144Hz 1440p & FreeSync. However, it is not under the predator franchise. Seems like the predator franchise is more geared towards G-Sync Monitor.

I seriously don't think 2K budget is enough to cater for G Sync or FreeSync.

1k per monitor. thats 2k already. but i dare say that it is rather future proofing. unless you intend to game at 144hz 4k gsync. haha. wont happen until usb C or dp 1.4

I think you are going ot with your obsession of adaptive sync monitors :s22:

Why not you suggest a build for ts that can include a gsync monitor within his budget? :s13:

certainly. sorry i got derailed.

Begin with this list:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_G-Sync#List_of_G-Sync-enabled_monitors

If TS decides to get 980 Ti, I would suggest to save money got a good monitor. Why waste the card on a 24" TN panel (not that TNs are bad). But when you want to upgrade in future it will cost even more (sell monitor for rubbish price + pay full price for new monitor)

the main reason for G-Sync is so that you will get smooth gameplay even at modest framerates. so a GTX 970 and a 1080p G-Sync should make a gamer pretty happy, and likely fit a $2k+ budget.

Hi all,

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

Can you guys provide me with a list of the individual parts that you recommend? I am thinking of getting from tradepac and have trouble choosing the processor, mobo, case etc...

As for monitor, i heard that Dell U2414H is cheap and has 144hz? Or are there any other new monitors as I heard about 2414H one year ago...

As for SSD, i see people usually use Samsung EVO. However, sandisk having sale for 960GB SSD. Is that SSD worth it?

Thanks all!

Dell is known for their UltraSharp series which uses a top tier IPS panel. However, they are not suited for gaming unless you are getting S2716DG (144Hz, G-Sync, 1440p) which uses a TN panel.

Hi,

Sorry for bumping this up again... I am intending to buy tomorrow and still have no idea on the individual parts to buy... For now this is what I have...

Monitor: BenQ 2430
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250gb
HDD: WD 1TB Blue

For processor, I need some advice as there are so many to choose from (as well as the combi with motherboard). Is Gskill still the best RAM to get?

Intending to get all from tradepac so if the prices quoted can be for tradepac, that will be great... Thanks all!
