Staying 1 night in Busan will be total waste even for 2 nights. If I were you, I will concentrate on either Busan or Jeju to explore properly. Visit the temple in Busan called Beomeosa, very scenic. Catch the orange subway line and you will see many people getting off at this station. Just follow the people with hiking gears and catch the bus to the temple, iirc bus #90. Or you can walk up which I did. ¡á ¼±Âû´ëº»»ê ¹ü¾î»ç ¡á.. and ¡á ¼±Âû´ëº»»ê ¹ü¾î»ç ¡á..

Make sure to come with a small backpack with water & tidbits at least. You also can buy & bring for lunch like gimbap or breads.

I think this is the perfect mode of transportation around the 3 areas. Alternatively, you may consider overnight ferry from Jeju to Busan if you want to save some money.

The sight of Hae-dong-yong-kung-sa is breath taking and it is worth a visit despite the transportation hassle. When you are in Busan, not to miss the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) area and nampo-dong for eating and shopping. There is an international market selling all stuff under the sun. Hit south and you will reach the renowned fish market for cheap sashimi.

Busan has much to offer and I will need 5 days or more to fully explore it.

I have been to Seoul last year but didnt have time to go to Busan.
Is it worth the time and money to go there?
I am keen to spend 2 days in Busan and 3 days in Seoul(again) during the Christmas period.
Will most shops be open on Christmas day?
TIA.

it depends on your intention.
If your intention is to sightsee, then Busan is recommended. If it's shopping, then i recommend Seoul.

Places to visit in Busan.
1. Taejungdae
2. Gamcheon Cultural Viillage
3. Jagalchi Fish Market
4. Yongdusan
5. Busan tower
6. Kkangtong market
7. Orkyudo
8. Beomeosa
9. Seomyeon
10. Haeundae, Kwanganli
11. Dongbaeksoem
12. Haedong Yonggungsa
13. Hwangsan

There's more if you want!
If you need some planning, i will gladly help too!

All shops will be opened. Especially in Seomyeon, it will be bustling with people and full of performance and events!
