1 more qn, is the z170 an upgrade over the h170 ? Asus or GB?

well if u need a few extra features, definitely go for z170, but if u are just budget gamer, u should put in money for gpu and cpu. as for mobo can get a b150 or h110 or h170.

well both are ok, have their issues as well, just that weather you are lucky or not to get all these issues.

so right now ur budget is below 2k and its only for mobo+cpu (u might need to get a new ram as well) and casing right?

but how old is ur psu? if above 5 years still preferable that u upgrade as well.

GIGABYTE GA-H170-D3H + i7 6700 @638
Palit SJS GTX 1080 @999
Kingston DDR4 ram 8GB @50
SF Ledex Gold 650W @159

Total: 1846

All prices are quote from PCThemes.
As for psu is abit optional, cos i dunno how many watt is ur psu.
At least this psu should be able to handle some OC for the GPU.

hi i would also like to build a new system, old pc bailed on me probably mobo and cpu too hot and dead (about 4years system). My usage mainly internet surfing, movies and gaming (Dota, Witcher3, Assasins Creed). No graphic editing work and no overclocking needed. System will need to run dual screen setup (dual DVI or dual HDMI is ok).

I have came up with the following system about $2000. Please suggest/comment if my system is fair enough for my use. thank you

Samsung 850EVO 500GB @259
CM Gold 750w @158
Radeon RX 480 @399 // or GTX970 @420??
Corsair 4chan 16GB @199
i7-6700+mobo @700 (no mobo selected yet, please suggest, only need i7)
Cooler Master Case @150
Win10 Home @149

No optical drives, and no HDD needed. Preferably to have built in LAN card on mobo for connecting to wifi.

base on your specs is abit hard to go with the needs u want, cos u want a 4 channel ram, but also want a build in wifi, i would say base on normal gaming u can go for dual channel, but if u still need 4 channel u have to forego build in wifi .

hi there,

i see, if i was going dual channel (being 2x 8GB) what would be the recommendation? after making my posts yesterday, i have went to read up on some of the latest graphics card out there which are good and have noted that there are some very good competition out there for cards.

GTX 970 // GTX 1070 // RX 480

Thus i am lost between choices, as there are some builds out there that recommend 1070 with i5-6500 and some older builds recommend the 970.

the mobo u can go with will bt itx board. like MSI H110i PRO AC, MSI B150i GAMING PRO AC, ASUS B150i PRO GAMING AURA, GA-H170N WIFI.

as for gaming depends on the games and resolutions u are playing.
all 3 are capable of handling 1440p and high settings, but the best will be GTX 1070 which is the 2nd card in this current competition in 1440p.

other than that will be the budget you can fit into it or not.

tqvm for your honest opinion. I might try for onboard wifi version because previously my PCI-E wifi card gave me alot of problems and unable to detect card/wifi and required me to plug/unplug reboot PC for it to detect.

Going with 1070 will burst my budget, however i might reuse my 750w PSU and hope it can reduce some costs. Thanks again, might visit SLS this weekend for purchase

Looking to get a new pc, will not be OC-ing.

Some components that I wish to have:

Mobo: No idea here. Would like one with wifi + bluetooth
CPU: i7-6700
GPU: Single GTX 1070 (Palit SJS? $688) no need multiple gpu
Storage: 250GB SSD + 1TB HDD
RAM: 8? or 16?
Casing: Looking for mid-tower. Window not necessary, white colour preferably :s12:

can anyone advise on the other components (no need peripherals, monitor)? hopefully the total price can be lesser than 2k (the lower the better :s22:) likely will just go to PCT and get all from there

Hi looking to get parts for a new PC.

Would greatly appreciate if you could help :D
NO OC/SLI needed. Mainly used for gaming + photo editing.

Parts that I would need recommendation for are.

Casing - If possible compact/small but to be able to fit in 1080.
Mobo - onboard WIFI
Processor -
RAM - 16gb

If possible, would like to budget those 4 mentioned parts to below 1k.
Already have PSU/GFX/SSD/HDD
