Processor: Intel i5 6500

Motherboard: ?

RAM: Kingston ValueRAM DDR4 8GB x 1

GPU: RX470? GTX 1050Ti? GTX 1060 3GB?

SSD: Samsung EVO 850 250GB

HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB

PSU: 550W?

Wifi Adapter: TP Link T9E Archer AC1900

Case: <$100

Monitor: Dell S2316H?

OS: Windows 10

Need some input for the above build, need it for light-medium usage such as photoshop, illustrator. Some light gaming activities such as dota and tomb raider :o

but is your wifi bought already or not yet? if not yet can consider getting MSI H110i PRO AC (which build in with a intel wifi adapter - performance is decent but i maybe lower tier than that wifi adapter u have)

well for gpu wise i would say RX 470, esp for photoshop and illustrator, den again a gtx 1060 cuda definitely can speed up more. den again raw performance iirc is rx 470.

psu i would say depends on what case u getting.
but below 100 can consider techware alpha (mATX case) @39
den your psu can grab those normal one like superflower or fsp or corsiar. though i still think u can grab a fsp Hexa+ 450w @60+/-

Building new rig (Half of it)

yo pros,

I kinda posted on another thread but no response.
Here is what Ii plan to get and may need some recommendation. To game, watch videos and I opened 100 tabs on my firefox. Currently I have a Titan x with couple of SSD, HDD. So, only need just the CPU + Mobo + Casing +PSU + RAM

If it helps I do have a benq 144hz monitor as well. My dilemma is the above stuff I want to get it to last for maybe 3 years+ or so. Budget about 1.8-2k.

i7-7700k
Asus ROG Maximus IX Code or Formula or something else?
Decent to good airflow casing.
I cant seem to find the RAM needed too, preferably Ripjaw or ?

Lastly, since only "half" of the parts, is it possible that i bring down my other ""half" which has my OS in 1 of the SSD drive and have them install for me with a small fee, dont have the disk or what cause its upgraded online from the win10 promotion.

Thanks

If it's just to game and watch videos, an i5 Chip would be enough already, but if u want to go i7 I think just the 7700 would be fine don't need to get the K chips if u don't intend to overclock. Some savings on the chip and motherboard here since a non Z board will be paired along with it.

For casing really depends on the size u want, u could go for ATX, mATX or mini ITX, and this would also affect the mobo of your choice. Since u already have the titan X, which is using reference style blower, u need not worry too much about blockage of air flow in sff cases. Personally for me I really like the fractal design nano S, but ofc it's your own personal choice, there is a wide range of cases available. Decisions made about the case would be size, aesthetics, functionality, ease of building and the overall build quality. (Recently other factors such as tempered glass and RGB started to kick in too)

For the PSU the titan X is pretty power hungry, I would recommend a minimum 750W, better to have a 850 :) since u are using a couple of SSD and HDD.

100 tabs for FF? Are u running on 64bit version? Anw in this case u might want to get 32GB IMO. Get value Kingston or Samsung or crucial RAMS at 2133mHz for ddr4 RAMS is sufficient, no need higher speeds if u are using non Z mobo.

U could bring down to SLS, stores like PCT will assemble the parts for u at a small fee, but since u are building most of the computer parts (aside from GPU and storage) I think they might do it do it for free? Don't quote me on that I'm not too sure >.<

cause i kinda open up alot of program while playing intensive games, pause watch movie, surf 100+ tabs, alt tab like cant count etc etc etc.

anyway i already went down ytd cause the reply abit slow and was afraid shop close so yeah

i got the 7700k, ripjawz ddr4 3000mhz 2x8gb, 32gb abit overkill since my old spec never even hit close to 16. got the corsair psu 850w, maximus ix formula, and the case lol not sure if its a joke - tecware titan and i do intend to OC some time soon. so far im happy with this spec. dmg around 1700 at pc theme. dude over there gave quite a generous discount for me :D

Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151
MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151
MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA1151

Which one you all recommend to pair with 7700 (no-k)?

Other than oc / ports, is there anything that makes b150 not as good as the other two?

I see 7700k is ~$50 more than 7700. If I am not oc, it's probably not worth getting the K version?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to build a mini ITX system as my 5 years old laptop is becoming increasingly unreliable but I don't want to build a PC tower due to space constraint.

Usage:
MS Office, Photoshop (simple editing), streaming movie
able to run games like FIFA, Football Manager, GTA 5 (or similar games) @ 1080p.

Budget : <$1500. don't mind splurging abit more on GFX.

no need mouse,keyboard,wifi,monitor, and speaker.

I'm looking for something that can last me for 3-4 years.

Thanks :)

Build help

My friend is looking to build a PC that would be mainly used for gaming.

He doesn't have anything, no keyboard, no mouse, no monitor, etc.

He would like to play FPS games, such as Overwatch.

The problem is this, he only can spend $600-700. I know it's a long shot but is it possible?

Thanks!

wait for the kabylake pentiums, performance similar to an i3. recommend he get some used parts, $700 isn't enough for new everything and have a good experience. also, wait for promo codes on qoo10 and lazada.
cpu and mobo:G4400 and asrock h110m-hdv(bizgram)$179
graphics card:XFX rx 460 2gb $159
ram:kingston ddr4 8gb(pcthemes) $83
hdd:toshiba 1tb(bizgram) $63
case: Deepcool smarter $27*
psu:FSP fsp300-50hmn 300w $39
monitor:viewsonic VA2055SA $129
KB+mouse:logitech mk100(fuwell) $18
OS:windows 10 home $15
total:$712
*after $5 qoo10 cart coupon

Hmmm, thanks. I think I and my friend have to do a lot of thinking.

Hi! Hi jacking thread cause dk where to post! Any moderator please shift the thread for me if deemed necessary! I apologise for any inconvenience caused!

I'm planning to buy a nes for storage, as the single HDD slot that the fractal design nano S offers is not enough for me.

Question:
1) What are the things to look out for? Read online that said need to watch out for processor speed, internet connection, HDD slots, Sata connection type. Still got anything else?

2) Also, did a quick search on carousell saw some pretty cheap ones ranging from $30-85 (Should not have any storage inside), and some brand new ones around $200-$500 (got storage but I think around 2tb or so) I'm assuming the 2tb storage can't justify the jump to around $500 so are there anything else affecting the price?

3) I'm planning to place this in my storeroom which has my modem and router, will also look for guides online on installation pointers, but are there any common mistakes/advices on this area? Aside from using LAN port, can I use USB too?

Some advice from the experts here please!

Hi all! I just joined HWZ after my best friend recommended me to check this guide out. I'm thinking of building my own PC and you guys have been giving great tips.

Would like some advice please. My main purpose of the desktop would be gaming.. DOTA 2, first person shooters like CS:GO, Battlefield, whatever new awesome games that may come out. My budget is ideally < $3000 but can be flexible.

I did some research and came up with this (prices are all from Fuwell):

CPU + Motherboard
Intel i7-7700k + MSI z270 Gaming m7 -- $983 or
Intel i7-7700 + MSI z270 Gaming m7 -- $928 or
Intel i5-7600k + MSI z270 Gaming m7 -- $820 or
Intel i5-7600 + MSI z270 Gaming m7 -- $792

Question: Do i really need i7 if i will not be doing video/photo editing and stuff like that? if i7 will be faster then should i just pay $163 more anyway? the price between k and non-k seems quite close, should i just get the k regardless if i plan to overclock or not?

Storage
M.2 Samsung 960 EVO: 250 GB: $179, 500 GB: $349
WD 1TB 7200RPM HDD: $72

Question: for SSD it stores mainly the OS and the games, while the others can store in the HDD right? in that case is 250GB enough?

Memory
Corsair Vengeance LED 3200MHz 16GB (2x8GB) : $199

Graphics card
Palit GTX1080 Super JetStream 8GB GDDR5X...$1019

Power supply
Corsair RM850i Modular 850W 80+ Gold (10 Yr).. $239
Corsair RM850X 850W Modular Gold (10 Yrs).. $239
Seasonic X Series 850W Modular Gold PSU... $239
Thermaltake T.Power 1000W 80+ Gold SM (5Yrs).. $229
Corsair HX1000i Modular 1000W 80+ Platinum... $329

Question: i don't know much about PSUs, but i used the coolermaster PSU calculator and 850W seems more than enough for my setup. also able to accomodate if i plan to make it SLI in the future. any knows the difference between Corsair 850i and 850x? they are both similarly priced.. should i top up $100 to get the 1000W 80+ platinum rated PSU or is that way overkill?

That's as much as I can gather so far. Any recommendations for cooling system? Would you guys recommend a water cooler for this setup? Also, for ATX case, any recommendations? I don't really care about appearance, can fit everything can already. haha.

Please do give me any suggestions that you may have to improve the cost/efficiency of this build. Thanks in advance for the help bros!
