Buying pc from Aftershock

So you go Fuwell PCT today and buy PC they tell you wait 4 weeks acceptable for you?

The scale of assembled PCs from PCT and aftershock is quite different...

Ppl that goes to SLS in general are either buying components and ownself assemble or by recommendation of frens to a certain shop for a fully built PC. As for aftershock, the only option is for a fully built PC. And with so many shops to go to in SLS, the business is even more divided.

Wan compare, must compare apple to apple. If somehow you can create the scenario whereby PCT is the only shop in SLS to do DIY vs aftershock, then maybe the results would be similar.

Its the same thing la. End of the day u still going home with the same PC, same specs, same parts. Only difference is u wait 4 hours or 4 weeks.

Economies of scale is alrdy different. For boutique builders, there is only aftershock that is widely mouthed around. The other players have a smaller presence in this market. Naturally, more ppl will go to aftershock which means more orders to fulfil.

As for SLS, there are a lot of shops providing the exact same services and components. Only way to stand out is either on pricing or word of mouth.

I can bet that in the future, should there be more boutique builders like aftershock which have bigger presence, you can practically order in the morning and perhaps collect in the afternoon since they will have less orders to fulfil.

how is their price and service and warranty?

i was told it takes 3-4 weeks to complete my order.I wonder how many pc they sold monthly?

What matters most is
Certification ( For professional purposes )
Warranty ( On-Site / Carry In )
Build Quality

Certification = This is cornered by HP and Mac. Majority of certified systems for profesional content creation will either be a Mac Pro or HP Workstation. ( Which can also take weeks to deliver )

Assuming certification does not matter, what is next most important is

Warranty;
1. CARRY-IN or ON-SITE
For Desktops, if brand only has carry-in warranty, i feel might as well buy from SLS, coz no difference

Brands like Asus provide On-Site Service Calls + Premium Phone Support

2. If going to SLS
IMO, price should not be the number one factor. There are certain shops like Infinity / Fuwell, which charge a premium, yet will not shirk responsibility via 30day 1;1

Some shops also outsource to a back alley assembler.

3. Ability fix own components without voiding warranty.
That little warranty sticker covering an essential hole to open the case...


The rest is subjective. If you like a certain brand's looks, then no choice.

Also, Aftershock limits components so as to streamline support. Nothing wrong.
If you want your own comonents, thats what a DIY PC is for..

Wow, useful link. I've always thought on site also meant on the spot fixed like what the TS was expecting.

So aftershock pc onsite warranty is to bring back and fixed? Like that means got downtime for end user with no pc to use! Irritating to see fanboys flaming TS.

Then really, no point buying aftershock pc liao. Pay premium for the warranty but still would have downtime then might as well ownself diy and go to distro rma by oneself.

Aftershock is the biggest local boutique systems brand. Can't compare them against much younger brands nor compare them against corporations like HP/Dell.

If you need everything done swiftly and taken care - just get a HP/Dell/Lenovo/etc. Their support network is huge.

If you want full control of your system specs, price and support - nothing beats DIY.

If you want a DIY grade system without the fuss, go with Aftershock.

As for the time required to wait and the level of support, it's reasonable for their level of operation.

Can't have it all.

Got sidetracked meh? Title is :buying pc from aftershock. From this thread we got to know onsite warranty by aftershock is actually they come to your site but collect pc and go back to troubleshoot which is not how one would usually associate onsite warranty to be.

i will check out if this is usually how a 'boutique pc system builder' uses the term onsite with mansa, dreamcore, lzx technology. Buyers need to be informed that onsite warranty differs between pc manufacturers brands hp/acer/dell etc and local boutique pc system assemblers else I think it is Fair to call that misrepresentation. They should correct all their marketing materials to 'onsite pickup'.

You decide if you want to wait for a fresh customized sandwich, or you want an 7-11 instant meal, or go supermarket to buy your own. No wrong either way.

My comparison with HP / Dell is highlight the fact that even big name branded systems do take weeks to customise.

Aftershock, as a brand, is the largest boutique system builder. It is starting to get active in the eSports scene.

ON-SITE as a general warranty term means you service ON-SITE
Eg; if you report PSU SPOILT, manufacturer will send a technican down with a replacement PSU, to see if they can fix on the customer's premise.

ON-SITE is NOT EQUAL TO BRING BACK TO MFR SITE Warranty.
Unless you want to loosely interpret the term, in which Aftershock may not be wrong either, coz they service on their site.

In Summary
You want branded PC, just go for it
You want full control over component customisation, either you DIY or you approach the various system builders out there. Generally those in SLS get good prices coz of their high volume of business.
You don't want to lug back heavy pc, go get ON-SITE WARRANTY
