I never do this. I just back up the old photos from the old phone into external hdd. Keep the old phone so can slowly take out those photos and videos. Then new phone will be new photos and videos. I never subscribe to cloud, just do everything manual.

If you always travel and take this and that then I think 512GB. I suddenly think 512GB may make me feel happier. But the thing about big storage is that people will tend to be lazy to back up and fill till the brim. Then if no cloud storage then if phone missing then cham liao. Everything gone.

You're right on all those. I rather buy the cheaper phone with the lesser storage.

Besides, the next phone we get in a year or two, the 512GB phone would be the 256GB of today.

I also bring over stuff from old phone to new phone. Then slowly delete what isn't necessary
And I also backup everything on a HDD. that method hasn't failed so far since Napster
