Yes, swimming is an essential life survival. One can never predict when will fall into deep water.

Children should be taught swimming as early as their learning capabilities allow. Drowning is a common causes of child mortality.

Most taught by parents or school courses, if parents/training program never proactive teach, high chance cannot swim for life. But there will be a few who will self-learn some time during late teens or early adulthood.

If hit 40yo still cant swim, then chances are forever cant swim for life.

Went for some classes during JC, but didn't pick it up. Ownself managed to learn during uni. Freestyle, breast stroke.

However two persons that I helped became very proficient swimmers. From can't float, can't kick to swimming laps in the pool in a couple of months. Maybe I should have been a swim coach.

Too bad he turned out to be an ingrate 3 decades later to insult me when I complained about his beloved PAP.
