7.2kpm. Single 30M, no commitments. No plan to settle down soon. OK to get PARF car?
Sure can lah. Sup Sup Water... :) Quick quick get one.

My incoming PARF car left with 7+ years at 106K. Monthly installment is only about $1060 for the next 7 years after paying the 30% down-payment.

7 years parf car average around 110k. So about 35k downpayment with monthly payment of 1k just for the car. Rest of the expenses add up average around 800 (assume u new driver so higher insurance).
So 1 month already 1.8k gone....at least.
Can u afford it? Barely. Lifestyle wise is it worth it, absolutely. Financially wise is it worth it? Definitely not. U may not need much savings now but trust me, down the road all the big ticket items will come like dating, marriage, house, reno, kid, maid/helper, healthcare etc.
Make sure u get a good gf/wife that willing to share the financial burden with u.
Basically! Date a rich girl to be your rich wife! Simple!

For your info. My girl is earning more than me but as a man! I cannot ask her to pay my downpayment first lor! Lose face and probably she would run away from me to date another new bf after asking..! 😬
This is a very good advice. Sorry but 6.2K salary I think is not enough in the long run especially if you are planning to settle in the future (wife + kids)
Just save that 1.8k potential car expense for your future plans. Owning a car in Singapore is a ALWAYS a financial lose... I just have a car because I WANT IT but I just leave less than 15 minutes to my workplace so technically, I have an option to just wake up much earlier and ride a public transportation. Not to brag but I'm earning waaay more than you but I still feel the pinch every month whenever the bank deducts the car loan.

You are still young, just enjoy life first with your savings.

Sorry for the late reply as I was still adjusting to the new workplace and didn't browse hwz. Thanks all for the advice! I've decided to not get the car for now. Actually after you get used to it, the travel while I won't say is short, about 1 hr, is actually decently manageable. But I also lucky to get posted to a relatively nearby area. Some of my friends went to learn motorcycle cause say too far hahaha. Just thought I'll give a quick update and to thank you guys for the advice

Also good for you. Coz once you get used to travel around with a car for years, and you would feel like you have lost both legs without a car.. It's addictive likes drugs! 🤭 😬

It's a mid 2021 CN7 S. $106K with 36K mileage clocked by previous single owner. Road tax is $742 per year.

So, after paying the 30% down-payment. I pay about $1060 per month for the rest of the 70% - 7 years loan.
Hi, price really not bad. Can PM me your dealer please? Thanks

No need. The price of CN7 is dropping fast now.

Therefore, any dealer could offer a good price.

Check the CN7 listings in sgcarmart and Carousell for example. It is much cheaper than then, back in Q1 and Q2.

However, do pay attention to the mileage clocked. Some cheaper price one have super high mileage clocked into the 60000km+ or even 80000km+ in their 2 or 3 years of usages on the roads which is not so good to buy.

I was kind of lucky. My dealer had just one unit of CN7 and listed for 3 weeks and yet nobody bought it until I visited to view the car for the 1st time and I paid deposit on the spot. Fall in love with this beauty and its safety features in this C segment at first sight!

U joking or serious? This is not edmw thread bro.
He's not wrong. It's a decent choice for an entry level conti car compared to the equivalent BMW 1/2 series / Audi A3. 9k take home can definitely tank brand new if no other huge financial commitment.

More practical choices are Jazz Hybrid, Avante Hybrid or even Prius Hybrid.

Ok sgcarmart has many used car. But the design is quite ugly.

Sometimes I wonder is leasing more cheaper than fully owning a car. Anyone done the calculations and care to share?

Depends on what the usage pattern is? Diff assumptions will net different outcome then like not meaningful comparisons

Hello fellow gurus. 1st time car buyer here and a total noob. Looking to get a PARF car with probably 2-4 years of COE left as I will be moving to my new BTO next year in a super ulu area that is inconvenient even with public transport. I've been browsing Carro and SgCarMart and narrowed down my options to Hyundai Elantra 1.6A GLS(~$42k) and Mitsubishi Attrage 1.2(~$35k) due to the lower monthly instalment ($700-$800/mth). I'm leaning more towards Attrage 1.2 as i hearsay Jap cars has lower maintenance cost. I have no brand preference. Just looking for something that is cheaper and easier to maintain. Are these 2 models good for everyday use? Or is there any other models that's easier to maintain? TIA!

Attrage is no longer selling in SG by CnC. Honestly, it is a very good workhorse except it is 1.2L. Generous boot space but the interior has nothing to be thrilled or excited about. Dashboard is empty and nothing gimmicky or techy to get excited.

Parts wise, Attrage is MIT, shouldn't be hard to get parts.

Elantra has a longer body length, and at 1.6 it should be a good drive with larger interior for comfort. Parts wise, my friends assured me Kimchis don't lose out to Nippon cars.

42k and 35k is not a lot, if money is not an option, the Elantra would be my choice. But the 1.2 Attrage (which I mostly used for Uber/PHV) is a good workhorse as well. You won't be disappointed with either option.

Thanks both for the advice. I'll probably head down to the dealer and have a test drive for both car and see which one suits me more 😁

I bought a used Mazda 3 for about 36k as my first car just recently. 2 year 10 months COE left, monthly payment is also about 800 too. Attrage just doesn't look as good to me and doesn't suit Singapore COE economy. But fuel economy wise should be unbeatable la.

You should consider the size segment of car you want. Elantra is equivalent to Mazda3 or Civic/Jazz or Corolla. Attrage is like Mazda2 or Swift or City.
