Maybe can ask when the new Skoda Octavia will come in ... Huge boot space. Decent specs.

But not too sure of the price though. The previous gen had a depreciation of about $8k+ per year depreciation. Brand new was $90k+.

Powerful 1.4 engine 148hp. 5 years warranty. Cat B coe. Fuel consumption about 14 to 15km / L with mixed highway / city driving.

Test drive is free. So can just pop by and see see look look drive and feel.

Then compare with the other shortlisted cars.

Government may keep increasing petrol levies.

Go electric? Top up abit from $100k, you can get an electric car.

Or, go for a smaller cc petrol car like hyundai i30.
Road tax dirt cheap. Petrol not sure. But, i suppose a 1.0 liter car should sip the petrol rather than guzzle it. Its $100k odd though. For that money, you can actually get some 'luxury' brand's entry level cars when they sell demo or management units if you wait it out. Eg. Audi A3 was selling at $100k a couple of months back.

New Avante and civic.....they both look ah beng to me? Unless you are ah beng, if not, i cant recommend avante or civic on its looks. Also, new avante's pick up from what i hear is pretty bad.

Have you considered the mazda 3 mild hybrid?

I got consider the skoda. The salesperson told me the last piece of old model was sold at 102k. The new one likely at least 110k. But I read that maintenance of Conti car is expensive

Thanks for the recommendation. I got try out the new avante. Quite impressed with the safety feature. But I read from mycarforum that depreciation of it is high for a Korean car.
Anyway, just want to seek some opinion to see if I miss out any car that is within my budget.

If $102k, the theoretical profit to the dealer is still $15k. So, i think its still overpriced for an old model.

Maintenance of skoda not that bad actually. Its all volkswagen parts anyway.
Largest or 2nd largest car manufacturer in the world.
No shortage of parts.

How do you calculate the profit?
