that's true...... that's why i paid $80 to find workshop to install DRLs then come on forums to insult uncles from workshops that refuse to check my flickering DRLs and show off how smart i am by fixing it myself by adding relays!!
sorry, 12V is 12V. 12V goes into DRL, they light up, simple as that.
if you want to talk about protection of the DRL by adding a fuse, that is another topic.
if you want to add a relay so you can have two triggers, it's another topic.
Your assumption had been misled.
A 12V is a 12V if it comes clean from the battery source.
The mechanic wired the DRL 12V supply onto the headlight's 12V.
He assumes that when I turn on the headlight, the DRL will also light up.
But that's not true because the load from the headlight plus the DRL causes one or the other to lack sufficient current. The latter thus had a problem with sustaining sufficient current to run it constantly. The electronics within the DRL couldn't modulate the supplies and thus flickered.
The workshop ( Not Soon Lee ) guy told me my DRL controller is faulty.
He said there is no way it can work because no matter where he connect, it would just flicker badly.
I disputed that with my DIY.
You cannot misled someone like myself who did it with my own hands.
You can only assume.
