I have questions... I just purchased an integrated shield plan and would like to pay for it... should i utilize GIRO or is it that every year when I am paying it, I would use Cardup's services and this will enable me to earn miles?

Yes, using cardup, you can pay for your premiums using your credit card and earn miles/cashbacks etc.

Do note that for integrated shield plans, AXA and Income are not in cardup's insurer list.

For credit cards you can use, you can refer to earlier post. Note that certain banks exclude cardup transactions, and there is a 2.6% transaction fee. You can get credits to offset the transaction fee using a referral code from anyone here though.

How does card up work anyway? do you give them your policy reference and they make the payment for you in cash (while you pay them in CC). This process then earns you miles?

Thanks for the clarification! I am under Aviva.

Cardup will pay the insurer using your policy reference.

You pay to cardup using your credit card. So it is counted as an online card transaction and you can get the usual cashback/miles/points. Again, some banks have excluded cardup transactions.

I didn't cancel my existing Giro (monthly) as I use it as a backup. Just in case card up fail then trigger late payment.

Oh dammm I didn't think of that... and cancelled it.

Got pros n cons lar.

If your giro still active n you set cardup payment too close to the giro payment date, they might end up charging your giro resulting in double payment. No big deal though, coz it will just end up as a credit in your account to offset your next month's payment.

Similarly, if no giro n somehow the cardup did not go thru. You can just pay in next month. No biggie. Afaik, insurers are not tat anal about occasional late payment as long as you dun drag too long and/or do it too often.

For aviva mindef, the GIRO billing org is aviva HEALTH. Believe it should be the same for cc.

In case, you didn't bother to scroll back 2 pages. My post already clarified.

Update on knowledge management here.

Cards that accept CardUp for 5% cash rebate
UOB One Card (capped at $2000 per month), BOC Family Card (capped at $600 per month), MayBank Platinum Visa (capped at $300 per month)

Insurers that allow partial pre-payment of premiums
Great Eastern
AIA
Prudential
Aviva

So that means, if your premiums of $6000 is due in September, you can pay $2000 in June, $2000 in July, and $2000 in August, and the insurer accepts it.

Minimum CardUp Fee

$3.40, that means minimum payment of $130 per transaction is required to make your payment worth it.

For MINDEF AVIVA GTL
Choose "Health Insurance" Category, and under the "Policy Number", you put in your NRIC. Then take a screenshot and email them after you have make a payment.
