I just read about a new 999rmb 9.7" tablet called UPPO PO8003. It runs on A10 and mali 400, so would this be a better choice compared to teclast a10 which is on rk2918 and gc800?

was thinking of getting the iv 30 instead ofthe elf since th specs are almosy he same and onda release a 4.03 firmware. any advise ?

Vi30 Deluxe or Vi30 (RK2918)? If it's Vi30 (RK2918), it has the best screen compared to the other 2 running on Allwinner A10. But RK2918 isn't good with power standby, so I'll suggest getting a Allwinner A10 tablet.

Next thing you should look at is IF you need a 4:3 screen, as 16:9 screen tends to be better for games and movies. Also Onda ICS firmware doesn't seems all stable yet (as other Allwinner A10 tablets or rather ICS as a whole).

If you not in hurry wait bah, CNY in a few days. Feb coming in around 2 weeks. I believe there'll be more models coming out. IF you really cannot wait, then it's up to u:s13:

I haven't buy any 8" tablet as I'd yet find any worth buying;) Almost bought the Vi30W deluxe though, but that's just because it has a better screen compared to Vi30 deluxe and I find it's of better value.=:p

Get the Onda Vi40 Elite, I believe it'll get more community support in coming month.

i dont think the Ondas use RK anymore - i just bgt the VI30 (no Deluxe in the name) and it has the same Allwinner A10 plus Mali 400 as the Novo 7A. a lot of confusion bec Onda used the same model name for diff setups!

Onda Vi30(RK2918) is still being sold in the Market. Vi30 deluxe name is still in placed for Allwinner A10

looks like they r not being consistent.

my box says VI30 and A10 and i remember reading that RK has been phased out and replaced by A10 so those would be old stock.

another inconsistency, the A10 sold by Merimobiles under the "VI30w Deluxe" name has a 800X600 screen while mine is the better 1024X768 screen. if u read the comments for that model u will c there are some variations

Vi30W Deluxe IS 800x600, Vi30 Deluxe is 1024x768.

If it's correction done on box, may they recycle the box for whatever reason. Just a matter if it's Onda side or the retailer side:s8:

that's why it's best not to trust what's written even on the box itself. i actually downloaded an app to check the cpu, memory and screen resolution before buying

Actually just look at the back of the shell can liao. They'll have something printed there, if nothing then a high chance it's OEM.

How does SXSE Smart brand compared with Onda?
I want to pull the trigger on Vi40E, but the Smart S11 seems to have better battery and lighter body, albeit more expensive. So, torn between these 2 now.

I 1st take note of SXSE when S10 came out, which is a clone of Aoson wopad M12. The brand itself don't seems to be in the market for a long time. Firmware updates doesn't seems frequent.

If it's RK2918, I would say get whichever you like. But Allwinner A10 has yet to come out a really stablet firmware for android 2.3.4, so I suggest getting a brand that has firmware updates.:D

I see. Both are A10 chip.. I guess I'll wait until friday. If nothing else change, I'll probably pull the trigger for Vi40E to enjoy the merimobiles promo.

Back of shell has "ONDA", "8GB", "VI30" n serial number. Doesnt mention cpu or screen resol

IIRC, there should be 豪华版 printed somewhere for A10 version. Resolutions & chipset normally would be printed on shell for China tablets.

Edit: another way is look at firmwares. If they are running on Android 2.3.x, RK2918 should be 2.3.1 and Allwinner A10 should be 2.3.4

After reading many reviews and comments, I am considering n7a or g2 for 7", onda vi30d for 8", and teclast a10 if I feel like buying 9.7". However, now no $ so I am waiting till maybe march. So just wondering, will the tablets be oos by then or maybe replaced completely by newer and better products? Heard that newer processors coming soon...

2) Can buy tablets either from sls or through sgshop, so which will be better for 1st time buyer? sgshop will be cheaper but need to wait dunno how long(2-4 weeks)??? SLS seems very scary, co many ppl con by the sellers. Any suggestions?

Copied this from tabletrepublic:

Vi30 : 1024x768; Rockchip RK2918
Vi30 Deluxe : 1024x768; Allwinner A10
Vi30W : 800x600; Rockchip RK2918
Vi30W Deluxe : 800x600; Allwinner A10

Onda Vi30 Delux 1024x768

Vi30 RK2918: built-in Bluetooth;front camera;1024*768; 16GB
Vi30 Delux:No bluetooth;front camera;1024*768; 8GB
Vi30W Delux: No bluetooth; No webcam;800*600; 8GB

Onda Vi30 Delux 1024x768

From the above, it seems that "w" indicates 800X600 and no "w" indicates 1024X768. And "Deluxe" indicates use of Allwinner A10.

my tablet specs are:-

VI30 (no "Deluxe")
Allwinner A10 with Mali 400
8" capacitive non-IPS
1024X768
8GB
Front camera

Based on my summary earlier and my tablet's specs, my tablet should actually be called the "VI30 Deluxe" instead of the "VI30".

Perhaps they recycled the case and box previously used for the RK models bec I read that RK has been phased out. There must be tons of RK cases and boxes left so the Chinese firm could have decided to re-use them instead of throwing them away! That's the only explanation that makes sense to me.

Only goes to show that it's best not to rely 100% on what is printed or said but to do your own confirmation!

I have all the common tablet sizes:

3.5"- iPod Touch/iPhone;
4.3"- SmartQ V50;
7"- Galaxy Tab;
8"- Onda VI30;
9.7"- IPad

If u only intend to buy 1, I recommend getting the 8" 4:3 size. It is much better for reading, photos and surfing. Even for videos, the size is the same as for the 7" except u get black bars. Much handier and lighter than a 10"
