For those who are waiting for an A10 9.7/10" tablet should take note of this model: Onda Vi30豪华版. (not Vi30W加强版).

It's an A10 8" 1024x768 tablet. Yes it's <9.7", but it'll give you an idea if you still want to wait for a 9.7/10" A10 tablet;)

I'm really keen to order the Vi30 (<899 RMB) as I wanted a 7 or 8" 4:3 tablet, but recently people are saying Onda quality had dropped:(

Hi I'm late to this discussion cos I never bothered about China tablets... but from what I have read from the whole thread, it seems a feasible option...

Could the bros here help me with recommending a good tablet?

I am currently using the Archos Gen 8 101 internet tablet. It is a 10.1 inch wide screen. The best part about this tablet is that it plays back almost any video I throw at it, even 720p MKV files with subtitles. I wanted to buy the Archos Gen 9 101 but it is not available in Singapore...

So my needs - 10 inch screen plus able to play back as many videos as possible without a need to transcode to mp4 or whatever format... Gingerbread OS would be fine... but ICS would be better...

Or would it be better to wait till next year for the ICS tablets? I am in no hurry... just scouting the market...

Thanks for any recommendations...

You are better off getting established brand tablets :) A Tegra2 China tablet cost around S$300-350 and the 3.x update is questionable. Xoom2 looks tasty if you are a moto fan:D

Electronics are getting cheaper by the day, of course unless there is a great flood to starve supply which can double the price of HDD

yes, things gets cheaper as newer and better things comes out. But these 499 RMB tablets marks a significate price point in the China tablet market.

<500 RMB market was believed to be for <=7" resistive screen, 256MB RAM, <4GB storage and old chipset that's near end production. Most won't be able to run any 3D games. IIRC, it had been like these for a few years.

However, now we have 5points capacitive, 512MB RAM, 8GB storage and a RK2918 chipset. A tablet that can run most current 3D games and do well in 1080p videos.

Part of the credit I believe goes to A10 chipset which set a price benchmark for older chipset. Also newer ones.

I'm actually quite excited at this point, I wonder which tablet will be the best value when I go SZ in Feb:s12:

Maybe then I can get a slim 9.7" IPS tablet at <S$250 then. Which I think will be great value. Then maybe buy a few Novo7A (similar A10 tablet) at S$100 each:s13:

I did look at the Xoom as im a very happy user with the atrix, however i was hoping that there is a 7" tablet as personally i find the size of tab excellent. 10" is slightly too big for me..

Currently in the market with 3G reasonable battery life and dual core I may recommend is Rena3. It's below S$300 I think. It runs on NEC EV2 A9 chipset.

It's a good daily tablet, but the 3D & video performance is passable. You may want to look at it. It was pretty hot 2-3 months back.
