Yes. The Onda Vi40E kinda good, but I'm really torn between Vi40E and SXSE Smart S11. From what I gathered:

Onda Vi40E
Bad:
Battery not very good. About 4 hours usage. 6500mah
Screen not perfect, forum say some white color defect
heavy (690g)

Good:
Better brand, better firmware
Cheaper
Merimobiles has promotion

This site says the Onda weighs only 600g (even found another site that says 550 but don't really trust it) which is more likely considering its thickness so u can remove one of the "bad" :-

If u intend to wait till March, wait for the Rockchip RK30xx dual-core Contex A9. N7A has ended production. I'm expecting g2 to drop till around 499-550 RMB Cheap 9.7" will be a better buy compared to 8", that's if u don't mind the size and weight.

Sgshop takes about 1 week IF the seller shipped fast and not during the Dec and CNY holidays. SLS not scary lah, just annoying to me lol Merimobiles, MP4nation can consider also. Pandawill and Ownta (look for coupons) ONLY if they are cheaper than Taobao+agent fees/shipping.

Yes, I would prefer 9.7" to 8" because its easier to read books on a bigger screen and its ips. I have checked merimobiles, pandawill and other sites, but none so far has been cheaper than taobao for the tablets I am looking at. So, I would probably buy from taobao or maybe sls.

I am hoping for onda vi40 elite to drop to <999rmb by march. Looks good and not bulky, but then rk30xx also a point to consider. I read that rk30xx has already been demoed jan 2012 or dec 2011 so its probably going to release soon?

BTW, my earlier question, does the charger that comes with the tablet fit into singapore sockets or do we need a adapter? Thanks!

Actually u r comparing the ipad1 non-3g with the ipad2 3g.

The ipad weights i hv seen r as follows:

Ipad 1 - 680(non 3g); 730(3g)

Ipad 2 - 601(non 3g); 613(3g)

At 620, the vi40 is pretty light

Well done! My fingers r very itchy too. Main thing stopping me is that i know nothing will happen until after CNY. If it works even as well as the VI30, u wont be disappointed.

Btw, which online shop did u order from? Merimobiles? Did u just use the free shipping or did u opt for Fedex? How much total? Thks

I use Merimobiles, pay using paypal, conversion is by my stand-chart cc.
US$209.99 converted to around S$270. Opted for the free delivery
My consideration is, paypal allow to raise dispute within 40 days. So, if something wrong, I still have paypal protection.

Also, I feel more secure purchasing from Merimobiles vs Taobao+agent. My thinking is, if you purchase from taobao+agent, the seller will treat you like a local chinese buyer, and it's up to your agent to perform the in-depth testing before delivery. If they send defective product, and your agent never thoroughly check, then you'll have to pay double deliveries to get it fixed.

For merimobiles, at least they know that the purchaser is international buyer, and they'll try to send better quality product (I hope!). This is because if something goes wrong, and you send back the item for replacement, they'll have to fork extra for the delivery back to you.

My Humble Review - Teclast A10

Hi everybody,
Happy Chinese New Year to all!

As promised to some bro here, like SC and W00t and the rest.. here is my long overdue review of my first Chinese made tablet.

After some research on the website and heavily influenced by bro SC and some of the reviews from the Chinese forum and sites, I bite the bullet and hoot the Teclast A10.

Thanks to my china client, he has helped me to purchase on behalf, rather than the proxy method of engaging another party i.e., sgshop etc to purchase.

Order from TMALL aka tabao online shop (accordingly to my chinese client). He suggested going for the official seller rather than other sellers from the store.. Price don't really differ much.

Ordered for 999RMB + add on 40 RMB for some accessories like leather casing cos afraid cant find such easily in SG. Indeed its the truth..

The delivery reach within 3-4 days during the Xmas period. And it eventually reach me just right before New Year.

When I first open it, I already didnt expect it to be top grade quality. (U need to have such mentality when buying chinese tablet)

First look, abit like iPAD 2. Which I don't really like it..
Comes with
- 1 x charge
- 1 x USB to mini USB cable
- 1 x screen protector (meant for ipad2, i used it for awhile and decided to remove it due to the 2 holes which make it ugly)
- 1 x HDMI cable
- 1 x earphone and extension cable
- 1 x manual in chinese
- 1 x tablet

It's pretty complete I must say.

These below are the pros and cons.

Pros
- IPS screen. Clear and sharp
- Firmware upgrade available quite fast from the official site.
- I/O interface quite complete. Come with normal USB, microUSB, mini USB and HDMI.
- Button at the side not bad quality.. not really filmy i must say
- come with both front and back camera. Not too bad quality, comparing with ipad2

Cons.
- Battery charge requires at lear 5-6 hrs from empty to full. Hardly reach 100%, always stopped at 99%. May be a bug
- The logo is inverted. But solved after upgrade firmware
- The white back casing not really opaque, therefore when it's one, can clearly see the outline of the light emiting out for the screen.
- need to buy my own 64 gb SC card. ;p
- When battery drop to 30%, the screen seems to be flickerly. Not too obvious, but still cause disturbance when viewing at night especially.
- when insert into USB port, and the screen flickers significantly.
- the screen protector that comes with it is for iPad. Hence the holes are ugly after applying.
- No physical volume control

I have since upgraded to ICS 4.0.1 and root it with superoneclick, it works perfect. Except for some errors that kept prompting which I think can be solved easily.. But no time to figure out.

If anyone has got a quick fix for these error, pls let me know. I have done factory reset, but it does not help.

Facebook for android also not available for 4 yet. (correct.?)

No they are terrible. Google for Pandawill reviews and you get a few sites with customers rating them an average of 1 out of 5 stars. That is really really really very bad!
