What’s the best account/bank to use these days?
I’m currently looking at CIMB Starsaver for free cheque book and I think the account is technically free?

Nowadays I just tell people I bank transfer (paynow or ATM transfer) or I pay cash. Everytime I go to the bank counter service, sign the form, they reject my signature. If I get cheque book surely more problem because my signature always fail the verification stage.

Don’t know about the rest, but UOB1 account provides free cheque book.

Personally, the cheque book I have last a long long time, the only cheque I write these days is to pay for my property conservancy charge which is once every 3 months.

I prefer to write cheques for some cases, like for people who fixed my windows, electrical work, etc.

Beats giving cash as some of the people prefer not to carry too much cash too.

Cheques also have the benefit of not exposing additional personal info (if required) for electronic transactions.

Oh, you’re right, they do charge for subsequent cheque books, apologies, my bad.

First cheque book is free though and I’m still using it...long way before it finishes.
Still can consider this account if your cheque usage is not very frequent.
Perhaps you can convert some regular bills you’re paying by cheque to GIRO? With monthly 3 GIROS and $500 CC spending, 75K @ 2.44% will amount to 1.8K interest.

The link says $10 Per additional cheque book (50 leaves), not free. :s11:

I think if you don’t abuse the use of Cheques, UOB actually sends the next book free. I get them in the mail before the current one running low.
