Don't know why the scammers based in Myanmar need to abduct Chinese actors. Are scams being put up via face-cam?
Details of the rescue remain unclear. How was the operation carried out on the Myanmar side? I don't think Thai police crossed the border to bring the man back. What did Myanmar authorities do? I am certain Thai police has contacts within the scammer organisation and there is probably some kind of understanding, since apparently Thais don't work in there, nor are there records of Thais getting cheated to enter Myanmar.

In any case, it is my belief that certain circles high in China have a hand in this profitable scam business. The KK Park in Myawaddy was built under the One Belt One Road initiative. Building contractors include Chinese parties, just like the other operation in northern Myanmar along the Chinese border that got upturned last year. Utilities and telecoms are supplied from across the border. Even the currency used is the RMB.
When I visited Myawaddy in 2006, there was nothing of the sort.

The plot thickens. The Myawaddy operation may have connections all the way up to the Chinese Ministry of State Security. I tend to believe that the Thais know a lot and have been trying all these years to disassociate from the elephant across the border, since it hurts their tourism image tremendously. Certain corrupt officials and maybe the Thai mafia are involved, but not the Thai government. Back in 2023, the Thai cut off power supply to Myawaddy.

In any case, hosting so many Chinese in Thailand presents a whole new set of problems to the Thais. Huay Kwang is effectively the new Chinatown in Bangkok. I have not been to Chiangmai for many years, but I am told it is also increasingly populated by long-term Chinese residents.

Currently Thailand cabinet given their approval to legalise gambling and casinos. Should this law approve, Thailand will be even more messy then current state.
Actually they already have the associated byproducts like moneylending, junkets and 5ex. They will have their hands full trying to confine gambling within the legalised premises and shutting out the byproducts from legal zones.

I felt she should just blocked all those exit points first since she can't do much without offending china

No choice, the river that forms the border is like a monsoon drain. Even without corrupt local officials, one can simply walk across without paperwork. I saw kids float on rubber tubes freely and women peddling goods. Thailand is facing issues completing the fence with Malaysia even.
