Unlock bootloader then many app won’t work like banking, SingPass etc. mcd.
New china rom phone now almost impossible to unlock bootloader for non china citizen outside china. Unless pay money for online seller to remote access the phone or rent their account to pass xiaomi bootloader exam yourself that held only few times a year.

My xiaomi no problem with singpass internet banking. Paynow payment is instant. No android auto. However some people said oppo and vivo china rom have working android auto.

Only google spying blocked, so no google location history tracking, google rewards that used data from the google location history tracking also not working.

Google map, click on place name to listen to sound of name place will not work. I have 3 china rom, all cannot work. This is useful when I travel and want to let people listen to place u want to go

Some devices the blue tooth even if say supported by the phone does not work.

Overall still usable

It's ok if you are poor lah. The discount is seriously worth considering. You get 90+% of the features for maybe 2/3 the cost?

But if you are rich don't cheapskate out.

Also don't bother flashing global rom yourself, I have done that for months. Google integrity checks getting stricter and stricter.
That's from the perspective of trying to get on the premium spectrum while cheaping out as much as possible.

Perhaps I am part of the anomaly. I used cheap China phones with global rom for many years well into my adult life until I could afford a flagship phone comfortably. While it is definitely way more comfortable getting all the latest features and optimization from using a flagship, the cheap phones were definitely more than capable for daily needs.

We are quite spoilt here compared to say somewhere like Europe, where some places just simply don't even get the global rom ones and the local options are expensive and crap. For most of the China phones there's a corresponding global rom version available here. If one day I go back to a worse economic situation, then I'll just get the cheaper phone options but with global rom.

Nonsense. All phones will support the most basic few frequency bands common in all countries. Else how to use phone to roam other countries mobile network.

Simba band 1, 8 and 40 is supported by even the cheapest xiaomi china rom phones.

https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_14c_(china)-13627.php
Simba is on 41 only if I am not mistaken. Seen people said their phones cannot be used on Simba's network before. Otherwise don't need to specify the network frequency on the phone's specifications on GSM Arena website already..

Has anyone bought any Android phone that comes with a Chinese ROM like Honor, OnePlus, or OPPO?
What are the biggest negative aspects compared to the Global version?

Realme Chinese ROM. Comes with preinstalled app, all can be uninstalled from the phone itself
Left a few core functions, didn't see if Shizuku + Canta could remove them but you can try if it bothers you

Virtually bloatless, don't even have "mandatory" google stuff

I wait for the global version. Lesser bloat and all sg apps work flawlessly. I personally use Oneplus 15 global version. Amazing phone with oxygen OS. I don't like china rom UI for these phones.

You can find these phones at lazada and shopee. Oneplus official store for the global version. I bought during sales period last month and paid $1.1k for 16 GB ram/512 GB storage version. The price should be higher now.
