Yes, it really depends on airline and the checkin staff etc

I flew on Airchina to beijing with a 1-way tix before and no problem
I tried to fly 1-way from KL to Chengdu on AirAsia and was denied checking in until I produced an onward tix out of China.
Argued, dingdong until abt 1hr till flight time, bopian, LL, login to free Wifi and bought tix before I rushed to board my flight...

Its best that you have an onward ticket prepared beforehand
... otherwise, can be a little stressful...

Hi, is it true if you buy single outbound trip air ticket, there's a chance I won't be allow to pass custom, either sg or China custom, heard of this before but don't know how true. Thought of buying single trip first then buy return when in China.

Anybody here really went down to apply before? Any of you outcome fail? Worried about this... Although I now know need airticket and invitee letter/hotel reservation.

Not much information is given regarding what if fail, supporting air ticket will have to adjust. Hotel reservation have to cancel, worried about these hassle.

Well....i for one chicken out when i went there n see like so many info are needed.
They had certainly make it more strict.
I heard last time, you can get away w just submitting form n pp photocopy.
Now, they check everything in detail.
Fully understand your concern on the return air ticket.
From what i understand, whether approve or not....it will take 3 to 4 days. Thats what the recep told me.
So you might want to take that into account.

It is safe to assume that 1 U-turn is acceptable. The duration in HK is not important.

Why dont you apply for a visa? Unless you are at Guangzhou or Shenzhen, else consider the cost of transport and accommodation in HK.

Why does China make it difficult for foreign visitors?
For others,a visa is only 30 days.
Japan is visa free for many countries & visitors number soar .

Worry people go in and don't want to come out.

Also what is the customs taxes like when bringing items back across to HK?

where did you get the price of RMB5? the price is RMB168 for most nationals.

The article comments in the link above, dated 2014.But I trust the admin fee shd be higher now. Still $5 or $10 is justifiable.

VOA, if available like this link https://www.travelchinaguide.com/emb...sa/service.htm says, costs RMB168. Certainly not as much as $70. The 2014 link is outdated. travelchinaguide is official and up to date. You get to save a bit if you are able to get VOA because if you apply at the visa centre at Robinson Road, it is likely to cost a Malaysian $90.

HK is a free port. No duties apply.

I have a China Visa for up to 30 days. I applied for it early last year. I have not used it and thought it has expired. My recent trip in China, the custom officer says my China visa is still valid.... what a surprise.. planning to travel fly to 沈阳，and travel to 珲春， and travel by train down to 昆明

Anyone had travelled into Russia via the custom in 珲春?
