What I meant was that Fast Pair and the Audio Output Switcher have been available since February 29th. if you want to purchase the Chromecast with Google TV, you will have to import it
The problem is the device may not have local app like MeWatch, Viu and Starhub TV+ app.

Google is rolling out a new Chromecast with Google TV update with the April 2024 security patch. It follows the last release in early April.

STTE.240315.002 (from STTL.240206.002) brings the Android security patch level to Apr 2024 (from Mar 2024). It is not yet reflected in the changelog.

Today’s 134MB update slots in-between the previous 72.55MB patch and the 169MB Fast Pair + Audio output switcher release in February. “Other bug fixes and performance improvements” are noted in the release notes.

This marks the fourth Chromecast Google TV update in five months — February, March, April, and May, with Google continuing to outpace the 2023 cadence: January, April, May, July, October, December.

Since the last update, there’s been a number of Chromecast developments. We reported that a 4K Chromecast with Google TV sequel with a new remote is coming, while Google shared at I/O 2024 that the dongle will soon act as a Google Home hub.

On your Chromecast with Google TV, go to Settings > System > About > System update. There is also a small firmware update (26.6 -> 26.7) for the Voice Remote: Settings > Remotes & Accessories.

Hi all, hope to get your advice. I’m looking for a device to connect my non-smart TV to the internet.

Would like capability of: once switched on, will auto connect to mewatch app to watch local channels and Disney+ app to search and stream movies — all from TV, no need to fiddle with h/p.

Asking, as I’m trying to find a fuss-free way for my Dad to navigate the channels via TV when I’m out at work.

I have the first Gen of Google Chromecast but it requires manual casting.

Can one of the latest Google Chromecast devices do so automatically? Or can you recommend the right device, pls? Thank you!

XiaomI TV Box S 2nd Gen. Apps will run natively on the device and no need to cast from phone, though it also has Chromecast 4K built in if you need.

With smart tvs, what are the selling points of these devices?

I believe the chromecast still useful when going overseas? Some hotel tvs like nothing to watch.

For use on non-smart TVs and maybe cheapo projectors that lost support of Netflix for it's inbuilt app 🤣

Smart TVs do not allow you to vpn. I vpn to USA with the google dongle and I get to watch shows/movies available in the USA only, Netflix, Prime Video, etc...

There's a lot of missing shows/movies in singapore prime video.

These 2 recent movies are from USA netflix only:

One reason: the leading Samsung and LG Smart TVs are not that smart compared to Google TV / Android TV.

LG Smart TV is pretty dumb in reality when it comes to app support. Samsung is a bit better but no fight with Android TV.

Is this setup considered as legal?
Which vpn u using and how much to pay? Is it safe and reliable? How easy or difficult is it to setup to make things work together?
