New CIMB Account, rate higher than Starsaver.

http://www.cimbbank.com.sg/index.php?ch=sg_per_st&pg=sg_per_st_sav&ac=11&tpt=cimb_sg#

Gone are the days when you take a queue number and wait for your turn at the banking hall. CIMB FastSaver is a savings account that you can apply online and pays you a high interest rate of 1.0% p.a. from the first dollar, without any hassle. What’s more, there are no monthly account servicing fees and fall-below fees.

No more waiting in line and no more issuing of cheques, so not only do you get to earn more money on your balances, you also save time by carrying out your day-to-day banking services online via CIMB Clicks Internet Banking, including the transfer of funds to this online account through FAST (Fast and Secure Transfers).

Interest Rate Balances
1.00% p.a. First S$50,000
0.60% p.a. Above S$50,000

Interest accrued daily and compounded monthly
Daily interest paid on the entire daily balance, provided that the balance is at least S$1,000 on any given day

Take note there is a $5 per counter transaction. This is forcing you to make this account an online breeze.

It is better to FAST transfer to banks with a lot of branches for amounts <S$50,000 if you want to withdraw over the counter. :s13:

Indeed, the bonus credit is not applicable for existing CIMB customers. Oh well! =(

You must keep your initial deposit intact for at least 6 months if not the bank will deduct the bonus credit from your account.

the $100 for $25,000 for 6 mths works out to b equivalent to additional 0.8% per mth. ;)
so total would b 1.8% per mth for dep of exact $25,000. :D

Only got 2. Haha... Just use this as a "high yield" savings account. Keep a bare minimum of cash in another bank like DBS/POSB for daily transactions and the rest of the cash in CIMB for higher interest rates.

Or if you got at least $60k, put in OCBC 360 account and dump the rest here.

ouch.. existing customers not entitled to the cash credit. It is not worthwhile for me to open this account since my starsaver yield only 0.1% lower

Err.. Yea. But the step up feature "forced" me to set aside some money every month as emergency funds.. So it's good in a way for me.

FastSaver is good. Just that it doesn't meet my needs and expectations.
