Update:
CIMB called to say that new joint FS is activated. She wondered why there is no new joint FD open when the plan was to place FD under joint account holders when we visited the branch on 30 Jan.

Told her RM asked us to open the new joint FS online first as this was supposed to be fastest process versus filling up account opening form. She thinks otherwise as the new FS account can be activated on the same day for people who visit the branch.

Anyway, she is going to request for the 18 mth 4.2% FD rate approval since we visited the branch. Let's wait and see.

Approval granted for new FD @ 4.2%. New joint FD account opening, activation and FD placement all completed on Friday.
Now CIMB has my vote for the best service recovery bank.

Lol my savings and fd acct that i applied on 16jan, 10days ago i xfer 1k to savings acct, until now nt even activated

Most ppl is below flow.
SG CIMB -> MY CIMB -> DuitNow (Spore Paynow equivalent) to other MY bank account.

Yes and from the T&Cs they commit to the 3.5% pa for "6 calendar months after account opening" so that's some assurance. Caveat is one must maintain or increase the balance each month end.

Definitely can close, but whether they make you climb up and down mt Everest to their branch to do it or just call them I don’t know.
